Ayuyu posted... My mind before my body, nothing scares me more than Alzheimer.
Not even the thought of spiders crawling into your anus while you sleep, burrowing through the sidewall of your large intestines and then laying eggs in a secret cavity somewhere in your body?

There was a signature here. It's gone now. Your face is bees.
Yeah, that's what I'm leaning toward. Not functioning in reality is so scary.
Anyhow, this ultra-depressing topic is because I'm bussing to work and there's a really smart, kind old man on it who is shaky and took five minutes to get on. It's scary seeing that because I know that one day I'll be old and weak. Agh being around old people is depressing.

See, while I'd rather kill myself then develop alzheimers or something similar, I'm almost more afraid of the "active mind trapped inside a dead body" idea.
If this is completely dead body, vs completely "dead" mind. I'll take dead mind, at least I won't consciously know it then.
If its a worst case scenario, real world type thing, dead body. Hopefully when I'm that old medical technology will have advanced enough to where it can fix the 'body' issue. Although it'll probably cost both my kidneys and my heart to be able to afford whatever technology it is.
At least if your mind failed before your body, you wouldn't really care.
But yeah, when I answered, I was assuming that the people around you would be trying their best to help you deal with whichever part failed, and it's much easier to still function (as it were) with a failing body than with a failing mind.
