If he's talking to people in the castle, he should know about it before it can happen!

Flew around some, found Walse. Obviously I wasn't going to go where the game wanted me to, so I flew some more and found Tycoon Castle. Before I could go exploring I accidentally got caught up with the chancellor. He tells us to go to sleep. Whatever.

At night there is an awesome PLOT TWIST where, after the game has heavily been pushing it so far, we discover Faris and Lenna are (probably more than likely) sisters. Inside, we see Bartz sleeping. Suddenly he jumps up and falls out of bed. okay. It's daytime yay. While wandering, I meed a maid named Jenica who speaks of a princess Sarisa who was lost at sea when she was you. Faris says she was found at sea when she was young. *sigh* Stole everything worthwhile from the castle and then flew back to Walse

Went to the town first. Quickly realized that this is the water crystal (Not sure what gave it away first, the canals or the two repetitive dialogues about the water crystal). Bought some armor and every magic spell/summon and went over to the castle.

Was wandering around the castle and I found B1. Met some creature that did 400 damage a pop. I died.

Got caught back up, walked into the King's chamber and I found out Gaga is on Jimmy Kimmel. Will resume in an hour or so.

I warned you about the monsters man!

Also, there's an optional boss in Walse Castle. Not where the super enemies is, in a different area.

That boss is much easier if you wait until you get Ifrit.

Yeah, that's true. I'd at least wait until after Walse Tower, since the reward for beating the boss can only be used after.

Psht, can't overrate FFV. It's fun!

Lotta class combos you can experiment with that end up pretty awesome. I remember one time I had someone as a barehanded black mage, so they could dish out legit good damage physically and magically.

Sorry for the delay, been busy the past couple of days.

We meet King Walse (who has green hair) and Lenna asks him to stop using the water crystal. Before he can elaborate on the political suicide she's suggesting, another meteorite falls near the tower of Walse. Holy moly! Time for Captain Bartz to take his trusty team to fix everything.

I fly on Hiryu to the meteorite and investige. It checks out fully for having all the properties of a large rock. We move over to the tower and a couple of dying guards tell us that the King went in with a knight to save the crystal after some wild Garula (or maybe it was that one from town) stormed inside.

In here I fight a Wyvern too. Funny how they go from being a mythical insanely respected creature in FFII to a regular enemy in the second dungeon.

4th floor we find the dying King Walse. We have to go up and fight for the crystal. Yaaay.

Go up some more and climb some vines and hit a dead end...uh...okay new plan. I head back down to the dying King Walse and check along for secret passages. After I cimbed up and down like 4 times I saw more vines in the corner of the top room. 'Oops' BOSSFIGHT

It started off okay, had 3/4 fighting and Lenna protecting/healing. Suddenly he started getting double attacks. and he started countering. Then he used Rush which I noticed was like an anti-regen. It ended with Bartz and Lenna barely alive, Bartz under 4x Rush and Lenna under 2x, curing as fast as she could. Got insanely hard at the end there, almost died.

The crystal breaks anyway (surprise) and the knight that was in the room starts talking to...Lord Galuf? Okay cool. We collect some new classes and the tower starts to shake. We exit (I guess I was supposed to leave that one crystal behind) and the whole area around the tower falls into the ocean

Our characters are stranded in the ocean when...Syldra appears? Everyone swims very willingly into her open maw and she swims us back to shore. Once we exit, the party realizes Syldra is hurt and dying. Before Faris can stop her, she retreats back into the ocean to die in peace. Fade to black, final howl of Syldra. :(

Back in Walse, everyone is in shock over the incident with the crystal. The king isn't dead, but he's healing. Also, a solider from a city called Karnak across the mountains is injured and healing. How did he get to the Walse tower if no boats are working? We'll probably find out pretty soon.

I walked back into the meteorite just to see if anything's changed and a door had appeared. Inside, I find a warp panel. I step on it and I'm transported to the Karnak meteorite. Sweet.

Trained up a bit (hehe, Zu's just like in FFX Bikanel Desert!) and eventually found Karnak, the city on fire. Everyone was being really odd. I went into the Weapon shop, saw some pretty nice prices, then I was arrested for being in cahoots with the werewolf even though I didn't let Lone Wolf out. Whatever.

In the prison cell, the prisoner next to me blows a hole in the wall (with explosives, not <_<) It's professor CID!

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: MEET CID

Anyway, apparently he's known about the crystal amplifiers causing the crystals to explode. However, when he tried to turn them off, he was arrested. The Chancellor appears and says they shut it off, but it has cracked, and is spewing fire. They are released, and are told to head to the fire ship.

Explored the castle a bit, but everything's blocked by fire. The queen has also vanished. In town, I bought up some weapons and armor (NOW FULL PRICE AALJDFLAFJ) and headed down to the Fire Ship.

I don't think there are many missable Blue Mage spells, but honestly, in FFV Blue Magic is not worth the effort you have to put into them. Don't waste time and AP on it and develop other jobs.

WHAT IS THIS CRAP?

Aquabreath, Mighty Guard, and White Wind would like a LONG talk with you, sir.

That looks a lot like my class setup. I guess it's pretty much intuitive to RPG veterans to have Lenna a White Mage/Summoner, Bartz a versatile warrior type and Faris a Thief/offensive mage, leaving Galuf with the more particular classes like Blue Mage.

To everyone who is not TC: You're being too insistent on telling him what to do. It's his playthrough topic, not yours.

However, I'm sure he wants to hear about important missable stuff, like this: Make sure to go back to Tycoon from time to time, there are more optional scenes there.

Also using savestates = fail IMO. What's wrong with the regular save system? Savestates just ruin the flow of the game.

I'm just telling him not to miss out on Blue Magic.

You can also learn Lv. 5 Death which is fantastic for leveling later on!

Pff I make Bartz a White Mage, Lenna a warrior, Galuf a Thief, and Faris a Blue Mage

Let's see, just so you don't miss something permanently missable:

In Walse Castle, behind a waterfall, there's something. Optional and involves a boss fight, so good thing.

As for blue magic, it's amazing in FF5. It's especially useful to know that if anyone learns blue magic? They now ALL know that spell if they are a blue mage or using the !Blue command. So even though your Galuf's the one with Learning, and he's the only one hit by an attack, everyone's then gonna end up as a good blue mage.

Later on, you'll get a class that can even control enemies, letting you specifically select moves and targets, which helps when you target your guy with Learning on and is the only way to learn positive/healing blue magic.

I like using the savestates because I can stop after a decent write-up, or whenever I need to go immediately. Obviously I'm not constantly using them as I've died and had to repeat several lengthy segments, where after I save regularly. Savestates only really help me if I want to stop and I'm in a castle/town/etc.

I'll start up again later tonight.

You have to load it from the title screen, whereas you can just continue in a snap with save states. Which reminds me, Quicksave resets the RNG, which opens glitch exploitation possibilities.

As for party builds, Galuf the tank, Bartz the physical attacker, Lenna the Mage, and Faris for utility classes in my party. And then we get the best classes, but that's not until way later. I miss having an ultimate class/job.
