So let's try this again! I know Terranigma has a small but committed group of fans, and I'd like to chronicle my experiences both for them and as a way to get more people curious about the game, which is probably one of the best ever. Spoilers will be kept to a minimum and will usually be gameplay-related; if I feel the need to post big plot spoilers later on, I'll put them in separate spoiler tags.
Couple of things you should know about my history with the game:
-started the game up before, but lost interest around Part III
-was a huge fan of Part I (with the Underworld) and a pretty big fan of Part II
-ended up spoiling big parts of the plot for myself, though thankfully most of it didn't make sense without having played that far. Still, I'm sure I'll be able to connect the dots and learn about things earlier than I should, which is the price I pay for being impatient! The only thing I know concretely is just who the hell Ark is, and frankly, that's a plot point I'm glad I spoiled for myself, as it makes the game about 20% cooler
Currently at the Bird Dungeon, so a brief recap. Exposition in the Underworld was as incredible as I remembered it (atmosphere + music + mass confusion = effective introduction), and I made sure to go to the two optional shrines (both of which I found my first time through, I'm proud to say!). I had a pretty big Homer moment during the Tree Dungeon, however, when I realized that those shaking pods have items in them. Got myself an excellent weapon and tons of items that I missed out on my first time through, which would've really come in handy. D'oh! Also found the Leaf Armor, tucked away in a pretty sneaky place.
I also made sure to more thoroughly explore the world map this time around, finding more secret areas and getting myself some goodies for my trouble. Usually minor things like MagiRocks, but it's always good to see a game reward curiosity. Given how the dungeon and overworld design seems catered to the explorative type- much more so than I remember- I'll be spending more time focusing on the details. Maybe this'll make Part III more rewarding? We'll see!
