Thats weird. I mean, I've heard this is being ported by the same team that did the God of War PS3 ports, and those were PS2 games that didn't require re-recorded dialogue.
Hopefully it's just little things, or sounds effects grunts or something, rather than needing to redo every line.

It's MGS2 that has a few rather questionable lines of dialogue, not 3. But that dialogue isn't even badly-read usually, just terribly-written.
"Colonel! We've managed to avoid drowning...!"
Also, if they do re-record I sure as hell hope Quinton Flynn still pops in for Raiden. Given his level of angst over having none of his inquiring phone calls returned re: Rising so far, it'd be a shame if that put too sour a note on the relationship.

I wouldn't read too much into that, I'm sure they'll get him. But yeah, they often oddly enough don't tell the English voice actors anything until way late.

I'm kind of thinking at this point that the reason Quinton Flynn wasn't called in for Rising is that they've canned Rising and don't want anyone to know yet.

That is silly, and also doesn't make any sense. Again, they don't call the English team first.

LeonhartFour posted... I think I recall Ulti saying Hayter sucked up MGS3 at least, if not MGS4 as well.
What a terrible opinion.
ZFS posted... I would imagine this is due to the 360 version.
This makes no sense whatsoever. Even if the 360 uses different kinds of audio files.. it's not like they don't have masters that they can convert to whatever format they need.

pjbasis posted... I'd like to see this person who told you bad things about any Metal Gear voicework.
According to Wikipedia, some professional critics criticized Hayter's performance in Snake Eater and claimed that "a lot of the humor fell flat, as if lost in translation".
Like I said, I haven't played any game in this series yet and Brawl is my only exposure to MGS so far, though, as my sig indicates, I look to rectify this in a big way by...at least the end of winter if not earlier.

I wasn't talking about audio files, I meant the dialogue that told you to press a certain button to perform an action. Thinking about it, though, MGS3 actually avoided that, and used stuff like ACTION BUTTON instead of what the button was on the PS2 controller.

The voice acting has always been very good, (apart from MGS4 Snake which people might not have liked) but the focus of that quote was on the content itself.
Don't think they should re-record the VAs. Not that I think they're perfect (though for the most part, they are very good), but that it'd be very easy to sour a lot of people on the remake if they're different. Better spending their time changing guard patterns or improving the interface (say, being able to swap camo in MGS3 without going through those menus) if they're desperate to do something more substantial than making them look cleaner.

Praise the Black Turtle, Game of the Decade Guru Champ. (Well, I never promised creativity, did I?!)

Ohh, sorry. Yeah, that makes sense. Still, I hope they don't completely redo all the voicework because of those few bits.
