so about 600,000 tried out the beta so far... thats a lot lower than I expected considering the Gears beta was a lot more closed off and got 1.29 mill. maybe more people than I think are like me and don't have plus!

I only played 1 each on the new modes. I'm not a fan of either. I thought the Objective would be like UC2s where you picked a map/game mode pair from two options. As it stands the mode swap isn't very fun. Treasure carrying/King of the Hill/Capture are all very similar but what the hell with them throwing Deathmatch into the mix. Bring on the one true Plunder.

Co-op Hunter wasn't too enthralling either. I'll stick to Team Deathmatch.

just played for a while with wigs.

ill give more detailed thoughts tomorrow, I only played team deathmatch, but I was happy that they fixed a decent amount of what I didn't like about UC2. The new ideas that they put in, some work mostly pretty well, others need some serious tweaking imo. but it was a pretty good time.

Ok so HERES WHAT I LIKE.

Midmatch joins: Seriously, thank god. this was just terrible in UC2, and I'm so glad it is finally here. You get the occasional game thats just really boring due to mismatched teams, or it's just 3 on 3 so it goes super slow, this is a great addition, it should have been in UC2, but better late than never!

Picking loadouts- I always found it confusing in UC2 why you couldn't choose which of the more "basic" weapons you wanted to start with, between the M4, AK47, and FAL, I didn't see why they made you pick up the M4 and FAL. This time around, you can choose an opening loadout, and it is a good call imo.

Things to do in the lobby- UC2 has some loooong times in between games, and theres nothing to do except change clan tags and boosters. UC3 luckily went above and beyond to give you stuff to do in between games (which is good because it still takes a long time to find games often!) You can customize your character and loadouts now like you can in pretty much every other game, and this is very important. What I really thought was cool was Uncharted TV though, thats a really nice extra addition for stuff to do. I hope when the game comes out they work to keep a decent amount of new content flowing to UCTV to keep it fresh.

Buddy System- I've only played team deathmatch so far, but in that mode the buddy system works great. I've had a few games where I teamed up with my buddy for several kills, we high fived, and even though this guy didn't even have a mic, WE TOTALLY BONDED. the spawn on buddy thing also really helps you get in the action quicker sometimes, it's a great idea. I can see how the spawn on buddy thing is a terrible idea for a lot of objective games though, half the point of killing someone in an objective game is so they have the respawn + have to run all the way back to whats going on. So maybe in objective games it should not be an option, but in team deathmatch, buddy system is great.

Airstrip and Chateau- Not including the setpiece part, I like both maps. I think they do a good job of mixing the climbing in. In some of the DLC I felt there was a bit too much climbing and needing the high ground, so I'm glad to see that curbed down a bit.

Melee/No more bullet lag- UC2 melee fights are awful. you only generally need a few shots and then a melee to kill someone, and half the time in these close range fights, both people die anyway. It's very unsatisfying. I think it's because in UC2 there is a small delay between when you take damage and when it actually affects your "life bar". So if you die, you still have a half second to melee and get your kill too. With this apparently gone, this means that doesn't happen anymore. I also think it makes the shooting mechanics a lot more satisfying. With the way it worked in UC2, you'd shoot someone, then they would die a second later, it just wasn't satisfying at all. Putting down people immediately feels a lot better.

Treasures- It's a small thing, but I like the treasure additions, looking for treasure sets, etc.

Power Plays (VIP and Enemies becoming visible) These are pretty cool powerplays that serve to spice up the blowouts a bit, I like them. They aren't too unfair. I am pretty sure for the full game there will be more than 3 power plays though, otherwise I might complain that they get a bit repetitive.

--STUFF I DON'T HATE BUT I DON'T REALLY LIKE--

Kickbacks- I guess this is their answer to killstreaks, it's kind of interesting, but I don't think the game needs them, and dealing with them can be a pain.

Sprinting- I'm glad for a sprinting option, but I don't feel like there are any real downsides to sprinting for the most part. Once people start using it more, if you try and shoot at someone from afar, they are going to get away like every time (as I have started to use it, I find myself getting away a lot). In most games with a sprint option, like call of duty or Gears, there are more downsides to sprinting.

Power Plays (Double Damage)- The only reason I don't hate this is because it only shows up if the other team gets a 3rd powerplay, but it's still a bit much imo. Mayyybe 1.5x damage, but 2? thats just excessive.

More gun modficiations- I guess it's a nice bonus as you level up, but when I got into UC2, outside of just learning the maps and how to play, I never felt at too big of a disadvantage, even with boosters. now early on, I def felt a bit underpowered at times.

--STUFF I HATE--

Airfield set piece part- cool idea, terrible terrible execution. If the heroes are competent at all they will crush the villains here. And frankly, it gets a bit boring as a hero in the plain. you are mostly stuck camping, there is some perfect cover to use, it's just too easy. Being on the cars is more interesting, but then you are screwed, and also die some cheap platforming deaths. I think when the full game comes out, the heroes need to start on one side of the plane in cars, and the villains on the other side in cars. Makes a lot more sense to me.

Still looong times to find matches- I figured it was just because the game was old for UC2, but why the hell am I still having this problem in the UC3 beta?

overall, pretty good. they fixed a lot of my problems with UC2, most of my problems come from the newer ideas, which need some tweaking imo.

Sprinting is fine, minus the awkward camera angle that it uses. I don't know what downside there is to give it that wouldn't make it worse off. Part of the appeal here is that you can actually escape in the middle of a fight, or as you're getting shot.

I think melee is pretty messed up, though. It's very clunky and poorly implemented, because it's based on connections and those can end with some dumb results. I do like that Hardcore mode requires 3 hits instead of 2 in every other mode.

Buddy System needs some tuning, because you shouldn't be able to respawn while your buddy is around a fight, but you can. I've had people respawn as I'm fighting his friend only to get taken down. Had it happen my way, too. That's gotta be fixed.

there isn't enough of an awkward camera angle, and your mobility isn't limited enough, like gears. I don't think it's much of an appeal to give people more options to escape fights, there are already plenty of ways to escape fights, and it already takes a pretty long time to take someone down.

I don't think melee is very good either, it's just a big improvement off UC2.

and yeah the buddy spawns need a little fine tuning, but I think it's a good idea, and it mostly works.

It takes the perfect amount of time to take someone down! UC2's health was one of the worse things about it, though it did pretty much everything else right in regards to weapons and such.

Sprinting is nice because it lets you clear an open area quicker, and without basically being killed if you're seen doing it. The tradeoff there is that you move slower normally, which I think works. Gears is Gears, Uncharted is Uncharted!

yeah it still happens, but in UC2 it was like, every time basically. the game is definitely not as polished as the GEARS 3 BETA but I still think it's a lot better than UC2 for the most part

I have had it happen way less personally. I am a super melee dude so yeah, in UC2 it happened in like 50%+ of all encounters, now it feels more like 20%

also just played team objective, I actually liked it quite a bit. wigs is lame. I dont see how its SO HECTIC, it's basically like just playing several quick games all in one without the load times, it's pretty neat!

I pretty muchagree with you icehawk, But I like sprinting a good bit, think its very well accepted. Control is a bit wonky but guess it needs to be! I also like Kickbacks and don't really like the Power Plays. Most of the time the VIP will be very dumb and do his own thing or teammates will fail and not protect him. People will just treat all power plays like normal and not adjust for them. Works well with a team though.
Agree first part of Airstrip needs to be fixed somehow.

Only thing is like I've said I think Team Objectives is a misery on mankind. I loved the old objectives so much and putting them in this format ruins them.

I think it just causes a lot of urgency. The problem with most online games are that close games are rare, but in team objective, every game is generally kind of close at least. The only real problem is being able to spawn on your buddy, which is lame.

It can kind of be a mess without a group, but the same could be said of all objective based multiplayer games!

I could have swore you get $100 for kills in Objective, maybe I'm remembering that wrong. I made 14k in one of the Plunder matches I played, though. I think I only returned the idol once but went 27-15 in k/d, so I dunno how they're handling it. I'll have to pay attention next time.

Disabled the accumulation of medals to stack Medal Kickback activations. Now, if your Medal Kickback is waiting to be activated, you cannot earn more medals that count towards your Medal Kickback counter until you have activated your current Medal Kickback. Players will still be awarded medals

14k doesn't seem like all that much for 27 kills. It may have been that the objective was deathmatch whenever you were getting $100 for your kills.

I really feel like they already did a really good job with balancing kickbacks. I just don't see a reason for this outside of like Co-op Hunter where you could stack a bunch of heals.
