Yes. Yes he is. I have some Summer 2009 nightmares about that. But in the end it led to my friend going co-op with me for both 2 and 3&K out of sympathy!

I don't think I've ever legitimately gotten all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 2. I was always bad at those stages as a kid, and whenever I play Sonic 2, I don't even bother trying to do them at all anymore.

Eh, I'm partial to the Serge/Karsh/Norris party, personally. You can sub Glenn in there, too, if you like.
Anyway, back on topic, I will say this: I really like Marble Garden's boss fight (Well, the Sonic & Tails or just Tails version anyway). I think the execution is a bit flawed, but I love the concept of fighting Robotnik in the air with Tails carrying Sonic. It just looks so cool. Great atmosphere there. Love S3&K's boss theme, too, so good.
Let's try to rank S3&K's boss fights (Robotnik only because LOL midbosses):
Doomsday > Death Egg 2 > Sky Sanctuary (Knuckles) > Launch Base 3 > Marble Garden (Sonic & Tails) > Lava Reef > Death Egg 1 > Ice Cap > Sky Sanctuary (Sonic) > Launch Base 2 > Mushroom Hill > Sandopolis > Hydrocity > Carnival Night > Flying Battery > Launch Base 1 > Angel Island > Marble Garden (Knuckles)
Not ranking the Sky Sanctuary boss fights that are just rehashes of Green Hill and Metropolis boss fights, for the record, so the only one being ranked there for Sonic is the last Metal Sonic fight.
I think that's all of them.

Hey now!! FAKE EGG GUY from Flying Battery is the bossest ****er ever!
Anyway
For Sky Sanct: The 3rd metal sonic fight is just a rehash of the Sonic 2 Silver Sonic fight though! I'll still rank it though And then for Knuckles I mean just the fight vs Metal/Super Metal Sonic.
Bosses rank:
****ing Epic: Death Egg 2 (Fingers Man/Flame-Laser Guy/Emerald Chase) Doomsday Launch Base 3 (Spiked head, grabby hands guy)
Awesome: Death Egg 1 (Guy with the spiked cars) Mushroom Hill Marble Garden (Sonic/Tails)
Cool: Sandopolis Launch Base 2 (Laser + Spike ball o doom) Hydrocity Sky Sanc (Knuckles) Lava Reef
Okay I guess: Flying Battery Launch Base 1 (Bowling ballz) Angel Island Carnival Night
Feh: Ice Cap Sky Sanc (Sonic) Marble Garden (Knuckles)
lol: Hidden Base (vs Knuckles) (lol)

I don't think I care as much about the boss battles, probably couldn't do a ranking. I'll say that I do like the final boss of S3&K, final boss of S3 vanilla, and the Sandopolis one. I don't like the Lava Reef one at all. And while it's kind of lame I guess, the first time I fought Knuckles as a kid I thought it was really cool.
Hidden Palace is one of those levels that's really stinkin' awesome even though it's easy as pie and mostly there to set up the rest of the game. Getting to fight Knuckles after nearly two games of antagonism was great!
I'd do Sonic 3D Blast too, but I don't feel like going back to my post to remember the level names >_>. But I really like the final boss fight and the Gene Gadget (on the conveyor belt)

One of the great things about the Genesis Sonic games is that they're the perfect length for marathoning. You can just sit down and blast through them. They're the perfect length for replays.

Looks like fun, especially considering you actually get a few rings before each fight!
That reminds me about how easy it is to cheap your way through a lot of those boss fights. On some of those, you can beat Robotnik before he even gets to do anything.

Man, nothing was more frightening than the Sonic drowning music.
Part of me thinks I should make that my alarm ringtone because I'd be out of bed in a hurry to shut that thing off every morning, and I'd be so scared I couldn't go back to sleep.

That drowning music is more panic-attack-inducing than... than... than something really scary! I can't focus right now, okay!

This.
Someday I want to play through a lot of SNES-era games that I haven't beaten, and the Sonic/DKC games were prime targets for this. But yeah, whatever.

As far as Sonic hacks go, MegaMix is really good (though you gotta make sure you grab the up to date CD version and not the old one that's based on the Sonic 1 cart) and I think there's one called Tohaka or something like that, where there's not a whole lot done but for the first level or so the design is excellent.
most of them are junk, and not worth playing past a couple of them having novelty value. But Sonic Megamix is pretty good! I wouldn't say "just like the Genesis ones" but it's the only Sonic-related thing I've played and liked besides the Genesis ones.
Although with blind playthroughs of such legendary games as Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid (plus 2, 3, and Peace Walker) hopefully in the near future, I kinda doubt it.
So yeah, I'll see about your Sonic, Leonhart. Even though you find 6 of my top 10 games to be extremely overrated somehow (and no there's no 3D Zelda in my top 10, don't worry).

lol I keep playing Doomsday Zone for like 20-30 times just to beat my record. So far I beat my record by finishing the final boss with 30 rings left and time 2:24.
Best Zone ever.

The one thing I dislike about Doomsday is that it takes forever for the second phase of the fight to start after you beat the first part (literally 10-15 seconds), and there are no rings to collect during that part, so you better hope you're not running low when you beat it or you're dead waiting for Robotnik to finish exploding.

I spent my childhood thinking you couldn't dash forward/speed up/whatever and learned to beat it just by memorizing the ring locations on both parts and making sure I had a good supply after the first half. now that I realize you can dash forward and do that all way faster it's cake!
I wish I had played Sonic CD more and could talk about it in depth. I don't have the same relationship with that one, I don't even remember what levels are called what! Didn't like it nearly as much as the Genesis ones.
