It's not worthless at all if your turn setup is done properly.

For example, in a War 12/16 style type of phase order, it would still be plenty useful.

Not useful in a "move first, ask questions later" setup though.

If Archer moves, say, four squares and has vision, they're hard to catch - but not impossible, you just have to win the WIFOM game and stay at two-slash-three hexes' distance and then predict their path. If Archer moves any decent amount of hexes and has dynamic vision, they can just prepare a "if we would run into people, head elsewhere" conditional and derp around firing global shots. Hence, uncatchable without outsmarting: with the current vision, even being a better player is irrelevant because the rules make it so you can NEVER come close without burning Command Spells.
