109 episodes available on Instaqueue from Netflix (subtitled). So why not.
Please try to keep content current with where I am in the story.
Just finished the first episode. I'm reminded of Yu Yu Hakusho a bit with the whole spirit energy thing. No real opinions on any of the characters I've met so far. Ichigo, Kiran, Rukia. Well Rukia is pretty cool. My interests have been peaked enough to continue.
Current disappointment : The opening and closing theme. Not a fan.
Episode 2. We learn that Ichigo's class mate had a brother die 3 years ago and apparently the hollows waited till just now to turn the dead brother into a hollow too. Why wait so long? Oh and i liked that Rukia is living in Ichigo's closet.
Episode 3. Orihime's brother who has been taken over by a Hollow tries to eat Orihime but instead conquers his inner demon and kills himself. Other stuff sorta happens too but thats the bottom line. Always fun when your monster of the episode commits suicide.
The first Bleach movie (Memories of Nobody) came out after Bleach episode 107. It's a side story that has nothing to do with what is currently going on in the TV series at that point in time. You could just wait until you finish the 109 episodes before watching the movie. Alternatively you could watch the movie a fair bit before episode 107 but I'm not sure exactly how many episodes you need to see before the movie doesn't spoil events from the TV series.

BlAcK TuRtLe crushed my bracket and it didn't even take three days. Congrats to BlAcK TuRtLe for winning the GotD Guru Contest!
Well if the First movie didn't come out till almost the end of the series (i'm assuming the series is only 109 episodes since thats all netflix has on instaqueue) then I will wait to see it till i am done with the series.
I'd really like to take a day off this week and just marathon through as many as possible but thats totally not happening.
You can watch Memories of Nobody after you finish the Soul Society arc without spoiling anything, which I think ends around episode 50ish or something (you'll know when it's over).
A lot of people would tell you to just stop watching the series after you finish that arc, too.
basically, the first 20 or so episodes are markedly different from the rest of the series where more interesting things happen. bleach has a style i absolutely love, and some awesome music. the cast is pretty decent too. the plot and its execution though....facepalmfacepalmfacepalm
there is some nice action in the show, but not something i would watch if you are looking for intelligent writing/anything.

Episodes 4 & 5: two parter introduction of CHAD! The 35 year old 15 year old! I'm guessing he'll be a pretty main character since he's in the credits and he can punch Hollows and stuff. I'm having trouble grasping with the whole they are all 15 years old thing. I didn't know anyone as large as Chad back then, ****, I don't know anyone that large now. Mass Murder Hollow was alright, I liked the bird. I think its too early for Rukia and Ichigo to be having those touchy moments. Like when Ichigo is telling Rukia not to make him worry about her. wtf is up with that? Way to early.
I like the song for the 3rd OP. I like almost all of them though. I can't really seem to think of any Bleach OP I hate, but I haven't heard some of them in a while.
Less arguing about OP's, I've only heard one so far. And personally, if the first OP is the best then i think the show might be in serious trouble cause its not that great.
You all keep giving horrible reviews to the later episodes. Can you compare Bleach to other animes, other than DBZ, so that I can really judge if i'm going to like it or not? Some could say that YuYuHakusho got worse as it got near the end but I thought it was great from start to finish.

I haven't seen all of Yu Yu Hakusho myself, only through the Dark Tournament. But I think (and people feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that Yu Yu Hakusho's issues were more a problem of the premise getting ridiculous after that point. Later Bleach episodes don't make the premise any more ridiculous, but even leaving out the massive amounts of filler the writing and general execution of the show just get lazy and sloppy.

Well i know nothing of the writer and i never read the Manga, only ever watched the Anime. I'm sure there are differences between the two. I think the way YYH ended was pretty ok but at that point I was disappointed in the fact that it was ending at all. If anything i would consider the Chapter Black Saga filler. Of the 4 seasons it was probably my least favorite. But the Three Kings Saga was definitely going in the right direction till it sorta just came to a close abruptly.
still, bleach really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. it starts out monster of the weekish, plot happens and shifts the show in a very nice direction, then plot reaches a peak and is somewhat resolved, and then filler sets in and the series flatlines a bit. I personally didn't mind the filler and some of the characters it introduced, but the second the filler was over and the story revved back up it was markedly noticeable. the music for the arcs after the filler is <3
as for comparing it to other anime besides dbz...yu yu hakusho would not be too far of a stretch given the premise. naruto...one piece...really pretty much any shonen anime. if you like action, bleach will provide some very nice fights.
on an unrelated note, i forget what episode they started doing it, but there are after credit bits. usually a quick comedy sketch or explanation of some terminology

so far the after credit bits are Previews for next "weeks" episode, but the pictures they show never match up with whatever they are talking about, and its hard to pay attention to quick flashes of things while reading lots of text really quickly.
yeah, the main cast of bleach all seem to be a bit larger than life. chad has a huge body, ichigo has a huge sword, orihime has huge...assets, and ishida has a big head >_>;;
