I try and do something new whether thats find new music, a new video, new show, some game I havent played in awhile, etc

that usually helps break my ruts

sometimes depression kicks in and I resort to drinking and smoking, but Ive been trying to kick that habit for awhile now

It's like, I don't feel like doing anything. I don't know what I want to do. I just want to sit in my chair and do nothing, but I can't do that because I have work that I need to do.

I probably don't want to go to sleep right now. I was thinking about it, but I have work I need to knock out.

I got used to literally rolling myself out of bed and laying down on a cold floor until I could prop myself up and doing weird shit like that just to get on track lol

you can step out into the cold or keep your head in the freezer too until it gets unbearably cold which Ive found gets good results

really sometimes you just gotta break the line of thinking/feeling and reset

I don't fucking know man. I'm going through that shit right now and it sucks. Normally I'll drink or smoke and yeah it helps a bit but other than that, I have no advice. I tend to beat myself up (literally) but I don't recommend it.

But when you make a habit of it it makes you feel better over time

Tc said they don't do any mind or body altering stuff, so there is no short way to sheer off the depression or sadness. The only way (and better way) is to do it over time by making changes to themself

I would advise you the same way @pandamonic

We have a bit in common bodily and I've never felt better in my entire life than when I was in good shape with a rigorous schedule

I think that's true but I go for a lot of walks and the difference between good ones and bad ones is enormous. The best ones are always the ones where I'm either looking for inspiration for something creative or planning it out. The bad ones are where I'm really just stuck for ideas and sitting around increasingly bored forces me to go for a walk, which turns out to be the same sense of being stuck but I have to drag myself around and watch where I'm going. Kinda like an anti-victory lap.

In the long run all the air and exercise would definitely do good so no argument there but "just go walk" can backfire. I think it's really important to up your chances of enjoying the walk as much as possible.

I do go on walks and it does help with clearing my head a bit. I should get in shape for sure, and some discipline would benefit me greatly, but I'm fucking tired.
Lately the shit just keeps on adding and I know it's building up to whatever the fuck it'll be, I know how this thing feels.

I disagree because the idea is to stay in the rythmn of the routine, but I guess it's a different strokes thing. What works for me won't work for everyone else

Still though it's worth a shot and if it sucks then you only wasted a few minutes

Talk with your doc and see if you can get something like citalopram that will take the edge off of depression or anxiety. Something light and not prozac or whatever

It helps me, but only just enough to know I have to do the rest myself and it makes the situation more bearable

And tbh the only way to do it is to do it. And after you do it a couple weeks you will feel the difference. It's hard for sure but it's so worth it

Thing is, I've never been diagnosed or anything. I've never taken any antidepressants, never even been to the doctor with any of this shit. Never had therapy or anything. I've always just ignored how it feels and put it in the back of my mind and got on with it etc. And booze and weed of course.
I'm not in a financial situation where I can afford therapy.

It's weird, normally the spring and summer period is my bad time, and winter time is a positive period for me. This year it's all wrong.

This was how I dealt with it too. But seriously the citalopram helped take the edge off. Talk to a doc and try to get ya something like that

Use that healthcare y'all got lol

You not an outdoor person? Maybe the pressure to go outdoors instead of stay in ruins your time and in the winter that pressure isn't there.

Not really an outdoor person, no, but I do go on a walk almost everyday. I go at night though.
I used to dread going outside, but it's better now. Drinking helps with that as well.
