Baseball is like a turn-based RPG, each pitch is like a turn and the hitting team tries to score runs while the pitching team tries to end the inning ASAP
Football is like an action RPG, each team selects their offensive or defensive formation (with possible audibles) and then the play unfolds. Strategy is important but mistakes and individual skill plays really get magnified --- Some guys have all the luck, Some guys have all the pain Some guys get all the breaks, Some guys do nothing but complain ... American Football is kind of turn base since you have downs and one time on Defense and the other on offense. Rugby Football would be an action RPG.
