Gaming laptops are only worth considering if you travel a lot and actually use them to work / game in a bunch of places. If it basically just stays on the desk, or it goes to work and back but you only game with it when its at home on the desk, its a massive waste of money. In the former case, just get a desktop. In the latter case, get a desktop and a cheaper laptop thanks good enough for the work you do. More on topic, yeah, thats a rough battle.
