As the above poster said. More water, more salt. Be careful of fainting.

You'll be okay, it's very common and controllable. Stand up slowly when you're symptomatic. Coffee/Tea are good ways to raise BP. You can literally just eat a TBSP of table salt and it should have an impact in about an hour.

If you are consistently feeling dizzy or faint, make an appointment

Drink lots of water! Avoid alcohol.

Eat a tablespoon of table salt? That's like 15~18gram of salt there. This is way above your average junk food. Don't do this TC.

The funny thing is that there is a supposed correlation between high blood pressure and salt intake, but it's not recommended to consume salt as a solution for low blood pressure.

Which is about 6 grams of sodium. People with hypotension NEED at minimum 6 grams of sodium per day.

WHAT THE HELL??? You know what, I won't even ask for your source because I know it's 'I confidently talk nonsense about stuff I know nothing about just so I can win internet argument.'

Jesus I even gave you an easy way out. All you have to do was not responding to my post and everyone would chalk up your 'eat 1tbsp of salt' post as innocent slip of tongue. But you just had to double down and play armchair doctor, didn't you? Not surprising coming from an obvious alt.

=================================
1.) TC's problem might lie elsewhere
Anemia and high/low blood sugar can also cause hypotension and treating them blindly with salt is nuts. I didn't call out any other poster because they suggested the right thing which is 'eat something'. You however suggested to 'eat 1tbsp of salt'.

2.) Salt is not the only source of sodium for god's sake
You at least got the 6g part right. Salt has about 40% sodium. So 1 tbsp of salt=15~18g of salt=6~7.2g of sodium. However regular meal stuff like bread, meat, cheese, salad dressing, and soup also provide sodium!

The average sodium intake in most Americans is 3.4 g/day or 1.5 teaspoons of salt, which is greater than the physiological requirement for the human body.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7763082/
That 3.4g of sodium comes from regular eating. Your bloody awful suggestion to eat more salt on top of that will easily cause TC to break into double digit territory (>10g).

3.) That much salt is dangerous
Human body needs 0.5g of sodium to maintain vital functions. The normal daily recommendation is 2~3g. Here's what'll happen if you eat a tbsp of salt on top of that. First, you'll wreck your nearest body cell through osmosis (source: highschool science). Second, you'll greatly disturb your body ability to properly maintain its liquid distribution. The liquid buildup around your lung/chest will now tax your heart. Third, the sharp increase in blood pressure could trigger heart failure.

Remember the case of Panera Bread and the Forbidden Lemonade? Too much caffeine in short time is dangerous and so is salt. Are you trying to kill TC through your own ignorance?

4.) Not even hyponatremia can be treated with eating salt
Hyponatremia is a condition where your sodium level drops below the normal level. For example, an ultra long distance runner who've lost enough sodium through sweating. You can treat hyponatremia with sport drink but in severe case you'll need intravenous electrolyte solution injection.

The point is: Even in hyponatremia case, sodium has to be administered in diluted liquid form, NOT EATEN IN BULK!!
=================================

The option of walking away is still on the table Statewitness. Triple down on this potentially life-threatening advice of yours and I'll mark your post for real.

@tremain07 I'm sorry for that ugly show TC. Please see a doctor if you can but if not, just eat, drink some water, and exercise. Ignore that 'eat 1 tbsp of salt' post

This information is from my doctor's visit yesterday actually the only advice I was given was to cut my current blood pressure medication in half and should things get worse to go to the emergency room.

Ah I missed your post while debunking that 'eat salt' post. If you're on medication, please listen to your doctor and do exactly as you're told. Anything you tell us you tell your doctor and if they tell you to go to ER you go to ER pronto.

I didn't think you were on medication already. Tbh I doubt anybody here did. In this case please stop seeking advice from the internet because it might backfire. We really can't help you any better than your doctor can. If you want second opinion please go see another doctor. Good luck TC!

Why are you taking blood pressure meds to reduce your blood pressure if your blood pressure is too low? I would think your doc would have taken you off of them entirely, that's really weird to me.

Alright, I'm fed, in bed, won't ever be bred, let's talk.

I was taking blood pressure medication because at the start I had high blood pressure, it's been that way for most of my adult life and teenaged life really, it wasn't until recently that my blood pressure began to become too low. Rather than go cold turkey they instead opted to reduce the dosage and have me collect data for the next appointment in six months, in fact I just took the night blood pressure and the results were 114/80/95 which seems reasonable to me, While I haven't experienced a fainting spell or a dizziness scenario nor confusion or forgetfulness fatigue and exhaustion still are a constant through their results seem to very with caffeine and salt intake as I noticed today at work. I was feeling pretty winded, yet upon drinking a coke and a bag of funyuns while my fatigue did not disappear it certainly did feel less oppressive. For dinner, despite my personal tastes I consumed a large order of french fries and 10 piece chicken nuggets from Mcdonalds and a drink of dr.pepper.

So, that's what's going on with yours truely if this is still not enough information I will answer likely in the wee hours of the morning 3am to 5am as those are the times I am getting ready for work.
