I've been doing some thinking, and I've got some ideas to improve the cast.
One: Makoto needs to be smarter, bossier, and have access to a motorcycle persona.
Two: When Makoto's not on screen, all other characters should be commenting on how much smarter Makoto is.

I'd argue calling Persona 5 the best makes you basic AF

Yep. P4 easily has the best cast. Their interactions always felt organic. Also,

Ryuji is a bozo but he means well.

Morgana just straight up forces you to go to bed so they can watch you sleep, very normal behavior.

Idk how people think the P5 cast don't feel like friends. They're goal oriented with the Phantom Thieves thing and have a lot of bad shit going on, but they've got each others' backs in and out of the Metaverse. Royal added more hangout stuff for them as well. I never felt like they were just coworkers.

Say what you want about Haru, but axes and grenade launchers is the best weapons combo out of them all.

Cope, archetype trope characters don't have to be bad just because they fit a formula. When you make their character development non-existent & still keep them tropey, they're dead weight to the cast

Persona 4's cast had the best chemistry by far. They felt like a real group of friends.

Persona 5's cast was solid, but underdeveloped. It starts off great with the first dungeon, but then it starts sliding downhill until they get to Haru, who just kind of exists and that's all that can really be said about her.

Persona 3's cast was a little weak, aside from Mitsuru, Yukari and Akihiko.

I got to the fifth palace boss before quitting, but I just want to say how much of a trash character Morgana is

It doesn't feel like a close friend group because it isn't and that works so much better for P3's story.

No way, i heavily disagree. My biggest gripe with 5 is that they introduce a character with a lot of potential, they get a dungeon, and then theyre done. Their development is locked behind an optional social link, and If theyre not Makoto or Futaba they just sit in the background and do nothing for a majority of the plot.

4 is also guilty of this, but it still gives every character a chance to interact, and theres way more character moments in general. Like did Yusuke and Haru ever actually interact during 5?

Ryuji, Morgana, and Yusuke annoyed the shit out of me.

So far I'm liking 3 reloaded a bit more. Everything seems so much more natural, people don't flock to the MC for no real reason and they all have their own shit going on. It feels a lot more realistic and grounded.

yusuke is the worst character in a non ff13 game

the only standout good characters in the main 5 are morgana and ryuji. yusuke is nice too

4, the only other one i played, is phenomenal. the only bad character is yukiko, who is irredeemably bad and should be erased from existence

Id say 4>3>5 as well. Im starting to hate Persona 5 intensely. Im ready for P6 now.

I like both casts. The biggest factor that puts 5 over 4 for me is Teddie. I fucking hate Teddie. This isnt a defense of Morgana, this is a Teddie hate post. The absolute worst.

He is the most annoying character in the series. His "no indoor voice" act wears thin really quick and he nearly gets the Team exposed as the Phantom Thieves way too many times. Also, annoyed at, "For real!?". Junpei the Third was one too many.
