You aren't missing anything. This is the season for the NYT to amplify Republican ratfucking with everything at its disposal.

There's a few, honestly, but a lot of them are stuck in key positions are are very useful where they are. Warnock, Beshear, and Whitmer would all probably destroy any Republican nominee this year but two are in key red state positions and clearly more useful there and one is leading Michigan really well.

Newsom is probably going to be "the one" if Biden steps down or dies and it's gonna be fucking awful

The mainstream media is nearly always ready to run with GOP talking points, and when they get tired of that, they switch to both sides mode.

These morons keep pretending that the incumbency advantage doesn't exist.

Biden is who we have. Either vote for him or happily support Trump, there's no in between.

I like what I've seen of J. B. Pritzker tbh too. Dems have a decent bench in 4 years. I am praying and knocking wood they do not fumble the bag on this one.

Pritzker is a good option too and hes independently wealthy which helps when running a presidential campaign

The article is a waste of time for one simple reason:

So then what? Step one, unfortunately, is convincing Biden that he should not run again.

His ego is too big for that.

Next.

It's too late for Biden to get out of the presidential race. The primaries have already started. Super Tuesday is less than three weeks away. Not only would Biden stepping down now be a back look on its own but the Democratic candidate would end up being somebody chosen behind closed doors by party leaders rather than primary voters getting to decide. That would be a disaster.

Can't be understared how much of a sell out Newsom is. Yeah we totally need a president who vetoes half his party's bills to protect his image. Fucking gross.

They aren't being useless. It's enemy action.

How many times has the "uselessness" of the mainstream media benefitted Democrats? Now compare to how many times the "uselessness" of the mainstream media has benefitted Republicans.

"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action", and we are so far past three (in net benefit to Republicans) it isn't even funny.

As someone who lives in Kentucky, I'd definitely be happy to see Beshear make a presidential run in the future... but like someone else said, he's very much needed right here for now. With an otherwise an all red legislative branch, he's the main thing keeping fascism in any kind of check here in the state.

A 2028 run would be great, though.

Another buffoon who's pretending that "a Super Bowl interview" is something important for Presidents to do.

And of course, also ignoring the history that a party that replaces its incumbent President always loses.
