Saturn getting his shit rocked by Luffy, ya love to see it

Just read it.

So it looks like the three duels that have to be settled before they can leave Egghead are now set up as Luffy vs. Saturn, Zoro vs. Lucci, and Sanji vs. Kizaru.

Confirmation that Blackbeard is a Buccaneer. Figured that was why we got Kuma's backstory at this point, and probably explains why he's able to take multiple Devil Fruit powers.

Guessing that Catarina and Von Augur's "mission" to apparently just go and touch Saturn is somehow linked to the Devil Fruit theft/transfer as well. Seems like a weird goal to accomplish otherwise. Either that or it's some kind of requirement for a tracking ability, so they can go attack all five Elders at once.

Caribou joining the Blackbeard Pirates is definitely how he's going to learn about Luffy being Nika and motivate him to go on the offensive against the Straw Hats, with the goal of stealing his Devil Fruit.

I'm predicting right now that the Straw Hats are going to make their mistake by the Giant Pirates just putting the Sunny on one of their boats and sailing them all the way to Elbaph, where they finally meet up with Shanks and probably end up attacked by the Blackbeard Pirates. The Grand Fleet might show up for this fight as well.

We literally just got an extended flashback about how Kuma is part of the Buccaneer bloodline that's vaguely referred to as "special", and now in this chapter Catarina says "Teech is special", to which Saturn responds "As is his bloodline."

The only way it could be confirmed any harder is if Oda actually had them use the word "Buccaneer" in the conversation.

It's the exact same as how characters were talking about the Sun God Nika during the fight against Kaido, and then Luffy was revealed to be Nika shortly after.

Also consider that Blackbeard has the same body size/shape as Kuma and his father, being very tall with a round body and thin limbs. I honestly don't see how it could be any more clear than it is at this point that Blackbeard is a Buccaneer.

My initial thought here was that they were talking about Teech's bloodline as a D and that bugged me as I made further connection.

You see, another D (Luffy) is a Sun God. However Rosinante revealed that the bearers of D were/are considered the enemies of the gods. The gods in Rosinante's reveal most likely referred to 'Celestial Dragons' as we saw the convo between Luffy and Doflamingo. But what if it was an actual, literal god? Like a Sun God god?

In that case Teech would be the true D, despite what Whitebeard said. That would be one hell of a plot twist

True, but the timing of the Kuma flashback and the addition of Buccaneers to the lore, in addition to the vagueness over what makes Buccaneers "special" in the first place, feels way too coincidental along with the Blackbeard Pirates' sudden presence on Egghead. As I said above, it's very reminiscent about everybody in Onigashima name-dropping "Nika" and firmly establishing him in the lore mere chapters before Luffy was revealed to actually have the Nika Zoan DF.

Yes, I know that there have been hints of Nika's silhouette and such in earlier chapters, but it could also be argued that there have been hints that Blackbeard isn't a run-of-the-mill human either, considering his size and ability to hold multiple Devil Fruit abilities. This could very easily be what made the World Government so eager to shut down the bloodline, and for all we know at this point Buccaneers could be the ones who created Devil Fruits in the first place.

Kuma is double Blackbeard's height. I'm not saying he's not a Buccaneer, we don't know yet, but he'd most certainly be small for one.

They were there to get a copy of Saturn, it's why Catarina Devon touched him. Her devil fruit can transform her into other people.

Both Kuma and Blackbeard have that "big torso, little legs" build. Could mean something or it could be meaningless.

I'd give it another 5 years at current pacing. Despite Oda saying it's the final major section of the story, he's manged to drag what should be a minor transitory arc out well over a year. Elbaf will certainly last at least 2.5 years, if not more.

Oda has been stalling too much to keep up the artificial tension. Having Luffy down for ten chapters after one round of Gear 5, in which he didn't even take any major hits, was silly.

Lucci is currently using an Awakened Zoan Fruit, and was able to keep pace with Gear 5 Luffy for a while during their fight until Luffy decided to take the fight a little more seriously, and even then, Lucci didn't even lose consciousness upon losing. It's probably not a stretch to say he's on an even level with Zoro right now.

I think that's just how Oda draws his big characters, Moria, Saul, Big Mom, Kaido, Chinjao, Oars, and Oars Jr. are all like that.

Zoro is clearly not going all out.

I also wouldnt say he even kept once with Luffy. Lucci literally did not hit G5 Luffy even once. He got wrecked.

I interpreted Saturn's statement as a way of saying that Teach is the son of the legendary Rocks. (The guy who had White Beard, Big Mom, Golden Lion Shiki etc all serving under him by simply being the strongest)

Does one peice actually need 16000 chapters? Just curious if they could have told this story a little faster?

I'm sure you'll find out officially in 100 chapters or so.

They don't really look similar at all. Going by Clapp and Kuma, they both have super tiny legs relative to their body. Teach is definitely top heavy, but his legs are much more evenly proportioned.

You'll probably find out in another 200 chapters.

2/3 of those characters are giants, and Buccaneers are stated to have giant blood in them.
