Jin, Paul, Hworang, Lee, and Kazuya are good starting characters.

King. Just learn his multi-throws. They're very easy to learn and they do a ton of damage.

They do not necessarily do a ton of damage, and the grabs that you truly want to do can be broken out of easily. King also has a harder time with an initial poke game.

People REALLY need to stop recommending King first.

On topic, I recommend someone like Jun or Paul.

As someone who only really got into tekken early into t7, I'd recommend Feng. He has stances, but they do convenient things like take a step back or parry all high/mid attacks, so you're learning spacing and positioning at the same time.

Jin was only hard to play with in T4 and unless they drastically change Kazuya from all of Tekken he still had a straight forward way to play him.

I'd say Hwoarang or Eddy. While both can get really technical and hard to master, most of their moves focus primarily on kicks (X,O on PS) and are the characters I always get friends and family to play as when they want to try and play the game for a few matches. They usually feel like they're able to accomplish at least a few cool moves with those characters despite not knowing what they're doing.

Eddy isn't out yet in T8, fyi. He'll likely be out around March/April

I see they nerfed his rolling cradle damage.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Always hated locking series' regulars behind DLC.

A lot of the chain grabs aren't nearly as strong and the Tekken 7 grab changes make it easier than ever to break out of throws.

nina has some pretty good command grabs I think, but Im not really smart at Tekken

The low level people Im playing dont tech them so its just extra free damage, and she can do other things besides grab
