Haven't really been following all that allegedly went on (sign stealing?), but a lot of people were pissed about whatever happened.

bro, there are photographs of Stallions dressed up as a coach for another team, on their sidelines. there is concrete evidence that Stallions bought tickets and the people in those seats were seen on video footage recording the teams' sidelines.

there is no question whatsoever that the UoM coaching staff were deeply involved in this plot to cheat. they had line items on their budget to pay for the travel to those games. the recordings of the other teams were uploaded to UoM's servers and accessed by the coaching staff. they cheated. full stop. and even if Harbaugh somehow did not know, per NCAA rules he's responsible for what happens underneath him. he should never be allowed to coach in the NCAA again, all coordinators should be suspended for years, a post-season ban of at least three years and reduction in scholarships for five.

Yeah, again no idea what the deets are. Not really a college sports fan.

FWIW, I heard Ryan Leaf (former NFL teammate) say this morning that the Harbaugh he knew was a "competitor who would do anything to win, so it's possible he bent/broke the rules" (paraphrasing). We'll see what comes out.

To fill in the deets: They have clear evidence the cheating happened. They technically "lack" evidence that Harbaugh, himself, was involved, instead of people under him just acting on their own, but... He was definitely involved.

It's the equivalent of Trump trying to say "There's no evidence Trump was involved" when everybody who worked for him was doing illegal shit.

and even if he wasn't directly involved or had no knowledge, he's responsible for what happens on his watch as head coach.

No, Gruden resigned thus broke contract, his remainder for his last season was settled privately. Mark Davis is losing $85 million from this round of firings alone.

A few weeks ago I'd love to have Harbaugh, but if Antonio Pierce keeps winning he'll get the job for sure. And I'm happy, he's a dog who commands the respect of all players.

They beat the Giants with Danny Devito at QB. I wouldn't get any hopes up for him.

Given the way a college football program is run, it seems there's almost no way he didn't know - whatever was going on, IMO.

Plus, simple logic says that if signs were being stolen by his staff (or whoever), that information is going to have to go somewhere and it's most likely going to be to the football coach. Can't see that information going to the softball team or the Economics Department, obviously.

Sounds no bueno.

Dirty fucking cheater or no, Harbaugh's resume is way too good to go to the Raiders, who are mired in one of the worst phases in franchise history. Nah, Harbaugh's the kind of guy that a team mired in routine mediocrity (the Titans come to immediate mind) brings in to get them a couple of playoff wins down the line.

He's had "close but no cigar" success in the NFL and NCAA. He'll get to pick his spot, if he actually wants to go back to the NFL. I personally don't believe that he does but if they start talking about vacating wins, he'll probably follow suit like the aforementioned Pete Carroll and return to the NFL.

Precisely, which is why he was punished even before the investigation concluded. He may be facing more punishment, pending what the investigation finds.

But no it really looks like Michigan and Harbaugh especially will get punished for this. Dude is done in NCAAF

I think it will, personally. I think he's pretty much the perfect example for them to use to become the "no nonsense" league that they've, very clearly, been desperate to be.

since this is a punishment from the conference, I can't see it affecting any non-conference games. but im just guessing here.
