Never went to school of any kind, but I know my way around a PC and can interact(decently) with people.

My knees and back are destroyed from working retail my whole life (am 37 years old) but I would rather contribute instead of collecting disability.

Is there any hope for me? Should I just give up?

Working as customer service for a bank.

I had to call my bank to report fraud on a credit card.

The lady on the other end of the phone told me that she was living in Texas working from home and I could hear a bunch of stuff going on in the background.

Sounds like a pretty sweet job

There are some customer service and super basic tier tech support jobs that probably don't take too much advanced education and can be done from home. One of my cousins had one of these jobs for a while

I can't imagine they pay that great but well with requirements like that I think your choices are limited

I work as a maintenance scheduler for a utility company. This particular role is hybrid but that's purely because of company policy, there is nothing that would prevent me from exclusively working from home. No formal qualifications required, but you do need to be solid with computers and good with time management of both yourself and others. This pays better than when I was a store manager with fewer hours.

Probably from the constant lifting and kneeling.

I used to work retail and I definitely wore myself out a bit too.

Id love a work from home job but Im not qualified for anything thatll genuinely pay well enough and I refuse to do customer service. Thats what I do now and I cant stand it. All I have is an associates degree and I cant afford further education.

can't you get yourself a few base level certs and get a bottom of the barrel tech support job

you'll be first on the chopping block once AI really takes off but you could probably manage a couple years worth of pay out of doing that

Is something like that very expensive? One of my biggest obstacles is the cost of education. I aint paying a fortune on that shit unless itll actually lead to something.

I wouldnt recommend HVAC unless you want to live to work lol. I work in that industry (office job though) and I see these working all kinds of crazy hours. Sure, the moneys probably pretty sweet, but Id get so burnt out.

not every retail job is standing around. when i was stocking for wal mart i was averaging over 10k steps a night just over the course of the shift and most of it was being spent pushing, pulling or lifting things
