I've heard this a lot on the internet, someone will say SNL sucks now and someone else will say it was never good

And even the casts of the early 2000s were good with tina fey, amy pohler, will forte, will ferell (though he may have been gone by then), tracy morgan etc. But after that group left it started to go downhill imo, with a last gasp from the lonely island digital shorts

I think it had some good skits over the years but whenever I watched syndicated episodes growing up I could never stomach watching them in their entirety.

The 70s was the first golden age...

The 80s were basically the Eddie Murphy show until he left and the late 80s were not good...

The early 90s was the best era and the one everyone loves...Farley, Myers, Carvey, Hartman, Sandler, Rock,etc...

The mid-late 90s were good too...

The 2000s were just bleh and it got worse each generation...

For most of its history the show has been hit or miss except for a few bright periods where the misses were relatively few.

Mad TV had higher highs than SNL but lower lows as well.
