I saw two Q+As, Andy Serkis and Marisa Tomei.

What was weird is, there was to be no discussion about any films in particular. I went to this a few times now and do not remember that rule. I thought at first this was about future projects or things that are yet to be released so they don't breach any contract, but no, they couldn't ask about LOTR or Gollum or Spider Man or My Cousin Vinny.

So we have people asking like "How surprised were you when you won the Oscar for your role in the movie about the lawyer and the car?" or "in that one movie featuring a famous arachnid character...." and just being vague all around.

I have no idea why it was like this, because it makes no sense. I think even once Marisa asked her agent or whoever on the side of the stage if she could answer a question because it referenced a movie directly.

So we have Q+As with fan favorite celebrities but people can't ask questions about any specific movies they were in? whats...the point...?

Actually, I remember one or two local cons ago Michael Rooker was there, and people directly mentioned The Walking Dead and Henry: Portrait of a serial killer with no issue.

the point

Publicity for the celebrities, at the cost of the disappointment of the fans, and the celebrities themselves to an extent for not being able to gratify the aforementioned fans properly and in a satisfactory manner, as you have made clear in this topic.

Probably strike related. When actors are on strike, they're not supposed to do press for movies.

I feel like talking about movies you were in 20 years ago should probably be exempt for that because it's not like talking about them is making any new profit for the studios, but maybe they're just trying to be excessively careful because they don't want to get in trouble with their union.

The strike is my best guess, because I've never heard a rule like that before except for projects that are still in the works or unfinished.
