I worked at different stores and supermarkets, customers never gave me a problem. I made friends with people and it was very chill. One lady came up to me and asked for a sandwich but she was eating an ice cream on a cone. It may be considered anal to try to deny a return the day after the cutoff, but the more this happens the more people realize they can abuse it and that same customer may be back to return other shit, then you have people return 90% eaten food items they "didnt like" or clothes bought 14 years ago. Haven't worked retail in a long time, but as a cashier I usually only ran into one insufferable customer every couple of days, with probably around 100-200 transactions each day, depending on the length of the shift and the amount people were buying. So, less than 1% of my customers were openly awful. The ones that were, though? Holy shit. People screaming in line over laundry detergent, people taking clearance stickers off a $7 product and trying to convince me a $100 cordless phone set was actually on clearance for $7...and of course the straight up brawl that happened in my lane because some older white lady went back to get an item from the other side of the store--I suspended her transaction and started the next one while she was gone. When she came back, I was finishing the customer who had been behind her, and she didn't like that. It only took at most 45 seconds or so after she got back, but she just was not having it. The woman I was finishing up with started some shit by making sly comments, and then--BAM. Hair-pulling, shrieking, wrestling on the ground.
