from a certain perspective, Im spreading pro trans information. None of the arguments in this film hold much water. Theres no way you can watch this and come away thinking yeah, it makes sense to be anti-trans. Not without some basic critical thinking, anyway. Walsh and the Wire show you how ridiculous it is to be a bigot, not to mention how big of an asshole you come off as.

I mean, he has a point, you don't need to call him an asshole. What's the point of posting this crap? There isn't much. I get your point too, like, let's analyze it, but we're kinda past that. The better response to people bringing up Matt Walsh, Jordan Peterson etc is to just respond with 'who?'. I'm typically the type to engage, but I've seen in person just acting like 'who the fuck is that?' is a much more effective way of conveying that those people have absolutely 0 influence on your life.

Ohhh, roger, fair enough.

I just find that their 'arguing' is never in good faith, so even the arguments that I could gain from watching the film usually don't work. I find it more practical to say 'I don't know who that is', and talk about the great trans people I know. As opposed to getting pulled down into the mud.

listening to opposing viewpoints, as dumb as they might be, is never a bad thing imo. i enjoy listening to people i strongly disagree with from time to time because it allows me to see their thought process.

again, i dont agree with transphobes but id like to try to understand why they think the way they do and their reasoning behind it.

While I'm not inclined to give views to transphobic doonglehosery and therefore won't be watching the video myself, he did pretty clearly present this as an opportunity to learn the ways of the hooblenackers and not as a message that he deems worth spreading. It's unfortunately not really possible to educate people on how other people "think" without presenting those "thoughts."

I will say that some transphobic idiots do have some good intentions driving their transphobic idiocy, and there's some merit in trying to understand why and how they're so idiotic instead of just dismissing them outright. But there also isn't much need to study the rhetoric to figure them out. Pretty much all of it boils down to the fear that being too encouraging of transgenderism will result in some people (especially younger children) transitioning who end up regretting it, which is easy enough to shoot down with basic empirical reality (namely the facts that transitioning is a long process that goes through many reversible steps before doing anything irreversible, on the whole gender-affirming care has a better prognosis than alternatives, and the that success rates are only going to improve if science and medicine are allowed to develop without political interference). Everything else is just a thinly-veiled excuse to hate on trans people and can't actually pass as being well-intentioned.

Yeah, that's not the best analogy. You do need to understand the opposing ideology to win an ideological war, at least to enough of an extent to understand why some people lean toward it and figure out how to undermine that.

once again posting videos that are completely shitting on him is very different from just posting a Ben Shandango video saying 'hmm intriguing' with a couple of caveats.

and I already posted suggesting I comprehend both viewpoints and understand that he isn't spreading hate or being a transphobe. it's just an interesting conversation, arguably moreso than much of the content in the hit-piece Matt made.
