The restaurant is in a strip mall with other businesses including more restaurants, and apparently has been a problem at this restaurant for over 2 years. People tell me the cockroaches are the entire strip mall, not just this restaurant.
I've been working there for about 4 months now and just recently decided to start looking into whether people have accidentally brought cockroaches home with them and had an infestation in their house because the female lays eggs.
I'm starting to get increasingly worried now because this is really a thing.
I ruffle my clothes now before I go into my house and check all my pockets.
Should I look elsewhere for a job? Is it possible to report and get the entire strip mall fumigated or something? I'm in Canada btw.
Damn shame because other than that I love working there.
Btw I believe they are German cockroaches. Apparently the worst kind :/

I would just quit. See if you could perhaps get some money by snitching on your employer to OSHA or some other regulatory entity.

yeah never step on them. they also carry a bunch of bacteria and diseases

Look for a new gig. If it's a restaurant it's going to get shut down. For extermination if not forever.

Yeah there's a Taco Time in the strip mall and apparently it's really bad there too.
Today I took another safety measure and put my work shoes in a bag, tied it up and put it in the garage.

I emailed Occupational Health and Safety.
If the place would be fumigated and rid of cockroaches and I could still work there with no cockroaches that would be great.
