That movie fucking rocked. The writing was fun, the characters were great, all the jokes landed, and the animation was beautiful.

Who would've thought a sequel to a 12 year old spinoff of a failing movie franchise would be so great?

Yep I just came back from watching it today with my niece and nephews. We all loved it. I had no idea it was going to be good. It was hilarious and tugged on my emotions in a good way. I thought I was going to get annoyed by the dog sidekick, but he ended up being the character with the biggest heart in the film. Even all the side characters were amazingly done. Godilocks and the three bears acting like this mafia gang and having their own character arc that was heartwarming (though I do think it could've been done a little better, but that's really just a nitpick). Wolf is Dreamworks best villain ever. I got goosbumps when I saw this character in action because holy shit is he terrifying. Then there's my absolute favorite character, Jack Horner, that was surprisingly not in trailers but was hilarious. Him having a huge arsonal of magical items to use really brings back the imaginative writing from Shrek 1 and 2.

I really hope this movie does well. I want to see this exact team work on future Shrek films.

Yeah, that was great. All of us (me, my daughters, fiance) loved it. I also liked the occasional Spiderverse style animation.

Definitely the best of the franchise since Shrek 2, maybe even the original.

Yeah Shrek 2 is Dreamworks Magnum Opus, but I think this movie comes second close follow by Shrek 1. It's unfortunate that I don't think this movie is going to do well at the BO. When I went to watch it, the theater was kind of empty.

Disney needs to observe it and take notes on how to make good movies again.

It didn't open well, but it is now holding pretty well. It will make at least $200 million worldwide. Hard to tell exact amount. Luckily the budget was only like $80 million so it is in okay shape.

Strange World, now that bombed and cost somewhere around twice as much.

Haven't seen it yet but have heard nothing but positive things about it. Definitely unexpected when I heard they were making a sequel after over a decade. Usually those don't turn out so great.
