I really need to rewatch S1 because it's been so long and watch the rest. I heard so much bad about season 2 and I've heard 3 was an improvement from there. Is it worth watching?

2 is a clusterfuck but a great cast. 3 is def worth watching. It suffers from the same thing as the first season where the ending is not as satisfying. But in the context of the season, its actually even better. Like the almost lackluster feeling makes sense in the story its telling. Future blade and the previous blade villian make a great pair and did a great job acting in it

Might check out 2 just to see what all the hubbub was about, then 3. Plan on rewatching the first though before anything. I don't remember the first season's ending being unsatisfying. It was a bit weird, but I thought it was fine. Then again I haven't seen it since around the time it came out.

Yeah, those kinds of endings are hard to do, but if it makes sense in the context of the story I can dig it. Real life doesn't have a lot of satisfying endings either.

I actually ended up liking Season 2. The plot was a gigantic mess and the dialogue was trying to hard to be film noiresque. I did find the character work to be enjoyable and the plot, if you can navigate the maze of it, to be good once you could make sense of it.
3 is superior to 2 and goes back to the formula from Season 1, of jumping around in time but with a different twist on it.

The problem with Seasons 2 and 3 is that they keep playing on the weird, occult-ish vibes of S1, but then never paying that off and ultimately teasing fans of what once was never coming to be. S3's ending was so disappointing. I don't even think there was an actual crime committed when I think about it.

I read up on this and found out that the creator (Nic Pizzolatto) left HBO, though theyve obviously kept the rights. Looks like hes getting an EP credit though, along with McConaughey and Harrelson. Worth a look. I like Jodie Foster.
