Modern, non-animated superhero movies are ruined by trying to add comedy bits/lines to films which are inherently dramatic (I think this trend started around the first Avengers movie)

Airplane 2 is almost as good as the original and funnier than any comedy of the past ten years or so.

Modern cinema will not age well. I don't think anything released in the last 10 or so years will stand the test of time like some of the legendary flicks from the around the 80'-90's and earlier.

Pretty popular opinion, actually. Vol. 1 has more zany action, but Vol. 2 has all the best character stuff.

It's a genuine travesty that we Americans view foreign movies almost strictly through the lens of the art films. The world, and our vision of it, would be so much more fun if we approached foreign cinema through popular films.

The John Wick movies get better the crazier they become.

Paul Morrissey was a better 70s cult director than Alejandro Jodorowsky, even though, if not because, he's such a contemptible person.

The obelisk is directly responsible for apes becoming self-aware , so its pretty necessary.

Apes found the first obelisk, 20th century humans found the 2nd, and 21st the 3rd. Its all about our evolution, beginning, well, from the beginning.

I think with age, the 2nd one really hits harder. As a kid it was easier to get into the 1st one for sure.

The latest Halloween movie was solid and the backlash comes from rubes who wanted more of the same.

humor, fun-based, and/or (small) family drama Disney movies > epic/fairy tale based Disney movies.

so, stuff like: A Goofy Movie, Zootopia, Encanto, The Emperor's New Groove > Lion King, Snow White, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, etc.

there might be some overlap, though.

Beer League is one of the better "crude humor" comedies of the mid/late 2000s.

Theres nothing wrong with Shrek the Third. Its only crime is not being the first or second. And people who grew up with the first two also hadnt grown out of their angsty angry nerd phase yet so it was cool to hate on it.

Ill gladly take it over the fourth movie which, while still good, is just a little too serious and the main characters not even really being themselves for nearly the whole movie kind of bothered me. That kind of plot would work better for a what if? special or something.

Lord of the Rings are impressive filmmaking achievements that are on the level of importance as the Star Wars original trilogy.

They're also very underwhelming and lackluster.

The wedding in The Deer Hunter takes up way too much of the running time.

-The Shawshank Redemption is just ok and not one of the greatest movies of all time.
-Batman 89 > Nolan trilogy (probably only mildly spicy there).
-Casino > Goodfellas
