Yeah, there have been some pretty bad Pokemon ideas. A bunch of eggs? A pile of sludge that evolves into a bigger and angrier pile of sludge? A seal literally named Seel? Clearly they've run out of ideas if stuff like that makes it into the games.

Pokemon hatch from eggs, so an egg-related pokemon isn't that big of a deal. Weird monsters formed from industrial sludge plays off the games' environmental aspects, so that's fine, too. As for Seel...well, it's a seal-eel hybrid, so the namesake just makes sense, even if it's not flashy.
