Two or three decades ago, possibly even a single decade ago, you could go right to the box office at the venue and get tickets at face value plus maybe sales tax.

Nowadays, Ticketmaster is basically the only place to get tickets at all, unless you want to deal with the somehow-technically-legal resale scalpers.

Hence why I stopped going to shows all together. Got real tired paying high prices just to see one or two bands on a bill. It didnt help that the venue known for having awesome metal shows in my area shut down too, since it was a small yet bigger but not a huge stadium venue.
