Nah but I'm not gonna be one of those fools who drives around the lot three times waiting to snipe a close spot as soon as someone else pulls out. I'll go through one or two rows before I just grab whatever spot. I get that Americans are lazy, but I have better ways to get exercise than walking a stupid parking lot. --- YOU GOT THE DUD ... When I went to college I would always park in the back of the lot. Took only a few seconds, I could pull right in immediately. I always generally park away from (or toward the edges of) the crowd when it's feasible. Less effort when searching for a spot and less chance my car will be damaged. I usually don't mind parking far. However, the weather and how much I'm carrying can have an influence on my decision. My father is one of those people who would keep going through the lot to get the closest spot.
