Same parents, same environment yet their personalities can be worlds apart.

I'm sure most of you have experience with this either personally or from what you've seen.

Sometimes parents inherently favor some of their kids over others. It happened in my family.

I know, genius. I want to know why. What causes it? Where does it come from.

Stay out of my topic if you're not going to engage.

Umm.. If they have different friends and live different life experiences and away from each other.. I'm pretty different from my siblings, especially sister.

My siblings, especially my sister hung out with completely different people (and still does), moved out when she was 18 and lived her own life. She's also in a completely different field and getting her degree much later than I did

Last I read on psychological studies is that it is roughly 50% Nature and 50% Nurture that determines the outcome of the person.

No he didn't.

But if you wanna go there. Hanging out with different people and not being as close to your siblings will do that. My sister was most different from my brother and I. Completely different set of friends--who gave her a different mindset

Taking environment out of the equation, you could have a hundred children with the same partner and they will all be different both in appearance and personality. Genetics is a wild thing.

My brother and I are extremely similar in thought processes. But are polar opposites personality wise.

Like, we often know what the other is about to say. Make the same jokes. Come to the same conclusions and notice the same things about stuff. It very much just seems we're on the same wavelength.

In the other hand, he takes after my father in his tendencies. He's a very controlling person, and seems to only care about himself, and turned out to be quite a manipulative and user. He thinks of himself as better than others and will become violent/threatening if that idea is challenged. Due to him also being similar to dad, he was favored by dad, and mom was never allowed to correct him. Actually, I was pretty much used as his whipping boy. They said me being punished in his place would teach him that his actions have consequences... Yeah sure.

Anyway, I'm his opposite. I'm shy and caring about those around me. Will sacrifice my wants and needs to make sure others are taken care of. While I do sometimes get self absorbed, I always try to make sure that my actions won't hurt others that are around. I'm always willing to share and support others.

So, for us it's a strange mix of the same thoughts and ideas, but filtered through opposite personality types.

It's how evolution works.

In a harsh survival scenario, because they are different, some will die, some will live. Those who lived gets to pass on the genes adapting to the environment.

Nature definitely exists I think. Otherwise there wouldn't be murderers etc. whose parents treated them fine growing up, but still ended up the way they did. It definitely happens. I think sometimes there's only so much a parent can do.
