It's simply not even close

I had a hard time getting fully into Fusion.

I always felt like I was in a maze instead of an open world environment that was only limited by my powers

I never got into it. The controls just felt rough. I gave up quickly.

I've watched it all though and holy shit Nightmare looks like an experience like no other.

Fusion remains the only 2d game that actually gave me a jump scare. Play it with headphones. The sound design is fantastic. I wasn't even playing it in the dark it was In broad daylight on a plane. Fantastic game . That game and Lunar made me realize how important sound design is in games. Like it's almost as crucial if not even more crucial then graphic design

I played half of this on a whim a long time ago and I thought it was cool. It feels like what Metroid Dread became but was on a smaller scale then. I am no more Metroid savant but I'd rather play it than the original or some the other crap M, don't really care about the FPS so I mean eh it's around that Super Metroid level for me.

I don't remember having that many issues with Nightmare.

The plant boss put me on pause for a good while

Dread is my favorite of the series.

It just feels so refined.

I didn't mean like it looked difficult (Metroid series bosses tend to get easier as you progress from my experience just based on grinding) but it seemed like a really awesome concept and therefore overall experience.

Fusion controls are fantastic and arguably the best the series ever had. It takes a little adjustment, but the lack of a large amount of buttons lead to some much-needed simplification. The Y wheel is completely gone, there's no dedicated run button, and diagonal shooting is relegated to one button instead of Super's awkward assignment of diagonal up and diagonal down to one button. Power Bombs are combined with the X-Ray Scope and feel SO much better to use, and the Grappling Hook being removed and replaced with ledge hanging is also a fantastic plus. The jump arc feels natural given Samus's movement speed, too.

My favorite Metroid. Love that it has horror elements. That close up face shot of SA-X is creepy as hell.

I enjoy killing Ripley with missiles instead of plasma beam. It takes longer but he screams in pain and making it suffer more makes it worth it.

Fusion is a good game and a terrible metroid.

Though once I'm done with PLA, I might hit up Fusion again since I have it on my 3DS via the Ambassador program

To each their own.

It gets points for atmosphere for sure, but it's too streamlined for a Metroid game for me to consider it one of my favorites. What few opportunities for sequence breaking there are come largely from oversights or glitches, so you can tell they mostly weren't intended. Loads and loads of unskippable text also hampers replayability.

Still isn't something that makes me particularly look forward to replaying it. ;)

The problems I have with Fusion, Dread fixed. The game does still railroad you to some degree but there are clearer opportunities to reorder and skip things, and the cutscenes are all skippable.

It never was.

Fusion might also be the best Trials game.

It was recently moved down a notch, because Dread is better.

Nope!

I prefer Zero Mission, but Fusion was my first Metroid. It'll always be special to me. It is a good game as well.

Nah, it's Super, with AM2R a close second. Could possibly change when I actually play Dread for once.

That said, I appreciate Fusion enormously for being my introduction to the series. If I'd started the series with the standard near-completely freely-wander-everywhere Metroid experience I don't think I would have even finished my first game, let alone grow to love the series like I currently do.

I loved the engine on frontier. So good for a mobile game
