not in the mood to go down memory lane about my grandpa to CE who will probably just meme this thread anyways. long story short, his time is coming to a close.

but i have 2 dogs, im 21 and theyre both 16. ive had them basically as long as i can remember. they are gay [lesbian] with each other. i like to refer to them as the little wives. the older one, honey, is mostly blind, mostly deaf, and has a heart problem. we gave her some medicine which helped the heart problem a lot, but its very clear her time is coming to a close. and yet shes the most loyal fucker anyone could dream of. shes small. shes half yorkie, half schnauzer, and her size definitely comes closer to the yorkie size. but shes constantly posted up at my doorway. fully stanced up ready for a fight. just daring an intruder to come mess with me, she swears she will rip them to shreds and eat their fucking balls.

the other one is named scout, and she is doing remarkably well for a dog her age. however, once honeys heart problems kick in again and the medicine stops helping, we are probably going to have to put her down. and when we do, scout is going to die inside of a broken heart. it might sound stupid because hurr durr they are dogs, but scout is very emotionally dependent on honey. she freaks out when honey is gone for an hour. she wont be able to take it when honey is gone forever.

When your dogs pass, I suggest getting a puppy.

Youre gonna be depressed for a while, but having a cute little baby pup will bring joy back to your life.

i understand the sentiment, but i dont think i could. these dogs are legitimately my little sisters to me. i know people roll their eyeballs when familial ideas are applied to dogs, but these little bastards have been with me my entire life.

I feel you, I got a kitten when I was 17 and he lived with me everywhere I went and made it to 20 years before passing. I was obviously ruined, wife insisted I get another, I didnt want one. Few days later she came home with a young cat, and she clung to me instantly and it helped the healing so much more than I thought it would. Still have her, I dont see life being the same now without her. Eventually got a 2nd and they are besties.

Point being, you dont know you have another best friend out there waiting. I took a 180 on the "no new pet after death" after my experience.

I'm sorry tc, I know how you feel. My father and my only dog died only about 5 months apart. It really sucks to see so much of your family go at once.

Yeah.

TC I know it hurts, but when you have a baby puppy barking at you, licking your face and snoring while he sleeps on your lap, your heart will melt again.

There are a lot of both that need homes and a companion, shelters are overloaded. Just consider it, you have time.

My grandma died earlier this year. And I just found out today that my dog is gonna have to be put down soon because of a tumor on her jaw.

Today was the day of her surgery but the vet called back and told the extent to what would need to be done and how shed suffer more than currently. So were gonna bring her back, give the pain medicine they prescribe, give her her favorite foods & treats, and schedule an appointment to put her to sleep. This ****ing sucks and we didnt think wed have to be dealing with another passing so soon.
