theres a free little music festival this weekend at a park a mile away so we might walk over there and check it out/get some food/drink

yeah hes very aware of other people right now, loves seeing new faces. Also hes crawling well and starting to pull himself up to standing so he tries to explore

our neighborhood basically has these music festivals every other weekend throughout the summer so weve been going to a lot, just bring a blanket and sit and get him started on live music

I have no idea what I'll be doing. Friend is coming in from out of town, so that will be nice. She's supposed to be bringing me Quiznos which I'm really looking forward to, as I haven't had it in... god must be 3-4 years now. For whatever reason they shut down all the Quiznos in my province except for one that is 2 hours away. Must be privately owned. I'll probably convince her to go to a movie with me and maybe grab some dinner. Assuming my paycheck actually comes in.... which was supposed to happen 4 days ago.

At some point I'll be hopping into the jacuzzi to see if I can't get rid of some pain in my back, and I've also been moving things around my house, setting up my old consoles (NES, Genesis, SNES, N64), maybe even setting up my old PS2 slim. I really want to start playing through Final Fantasy again. I know I've talked about how much I hate 12-15, but I'm willing to give them a second playthrough to see if my views have changed over the years.

It's a LOT of work though. I have to figure out what I want to toss/donate, and take pictures of for selling.

Eventually, probably not this weekend I'll be starting up Trails of Cold Steel and Trails in the Sky SC.

Hand surgery, then recovery. Maybe work Sunday.

Funny, I had to do that yesterday (it's a school job for me).

I've got work on Saturday night (starting said new job on Monday, so I'll most likely be giving my notice, although technically I could keep it if I wanted to..). Other than that, just vidya, YouTube, sports, Church. Mainly just relaxing before I have a busy year of work coming up. Also hanging out with my cat who is pretty severely ill right now.

I am packing up and cleaning my house, leaving on Sunday for the 700 mile drive to my new living space

Currently playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I'm liking it a lot so far. It was one of the free games on PS+ this month.

I got Far Cry 6 on the go too and will be playing some of that over the weekend as well.

super cool! he'll be graduating college before you know it. you seen any notable acts over at those free shows? my city does something similar every Thursday in August, it's pretty awesome!

nice. i'm playing Yakuza: LaD, too! but im on PC gamepass. i actually couldn't finish Y6 because I was just beyond tired of it at that point, but LaD added some much needed freshness to the series and i'm loving it.

its never anything super notable, mostly they focus on local-ish (midwest) acts and also try to incorporate international acts. The festivals all range from 2-4 stages though so they get a good variety

next week they have Lily Hiatt and Aaron Lee Tasjan which Im excited for. Weve seen some pretty decent acts at them over the years. Old 97s, Foxygen, The Baseball Project, Diane Coffee, Turkuaz, Alejandro Escovedo, Radkey, to name a few

this was the one a few weeks ago, for example:

no, no i did not. thanks for asking! tomorrow i gotta take my doggo to the vet (just a check-up), then im playing my usual Saturday disc golf round, followed by boring errands BUT THEN i'm going canoeing on the creek / river in my buddy's back yard followed by MOTHER FUCKING PHISH at Alpine Valley. dont have plans for Sunday yet, but i'll probably throw more discs and then do my weekly cooking.

no shit, i just saw Aaron Lee Tasjan last night at the free concert here. he was pretty good. didn't know he's from central Ohio. some good bands on there, NMAS are great.

Nice! Especially canoeing and Phish. Also, where do you live? I saw Radiohead at Alpine Valley when I lived just outside Chicago.

if you've never seen Phish standalone, you gotta do it. it's a whole different experience than seeing them at a festival. definitely consider an Alpine show for '23!

Alpine either has no Shakedown, or a very minimal one, which sucks because that's a huge part of the "experience" to me. if you don't know, "Shakedown Street" is a gigantic section of the lot at Dead/Phish/etc shows where vendors setup and sell everything from beers to grilled cheese to glass pipes to paintings to custom tie dyes to every drug you can think of. it's real rad.
