My fianc and I are looking to sublet an unfurnished apartment in Stockholm (the plan is to buy a place next year, but with prices going down and them being expected to keep going down for at least a year we wanna wait).

Anyway, many subletters ask for a reasonable rent considering market value but some try to squeeze out as much surplus rent as possible. Like this one apartment. The ad show that shes been trying to get it rented out for a while, and it is a very nice apartment (we have seen it). But she is asking for way too much money and a fat deposition on top of that. So we said no. The apartment is still not rented out but she refuse to lower the rent. So it costs her money and just sits there empty.

Some people fail to see the forest for the trees a lot of the time when it comes to money. They want to get the most they possibly can for something even if the costs of getting that price no longer make it worthwhile.

Works the other way too. There are people who get so wrapped up in frugality even at a large expense to their possible productivity elsewhere that would benefit them more.
