It's gonna be a long wait, though. Persona 5 Royal is the first one to drop and it doesn't come until October.

I guess we'll know tomorrow if Playstation has these or not when the new+ launches.

Will be insane if it doesn't, there's no way to play P4 or P3 on PS5 or PS4 right now, as far as I'm aware.

Maybe they come to Playstation via PS+ Premium as the actual PSP and PS2 games and not these HD versions

Seeing the ages long debate about whether it should have been FES instead of P3P

My stance is....I'm dissapointed either way. There is no best version of P3.

P3P has manual control and FEMC but the entire game is sawed down and the presentation takes a huge hit.

Still wish we could get that definitive P3 release one day with the P3P additions but the full FES presentation.

Shity low resolution stills replacing the animated cutscenes, almost all in-engine cutscenes replaced with talking portraits, no exploring the city. No Answer (regardless of what you think of it, it's still cut content)

yea I very much dislike the changes they had to make to P3P, but the controllable party members is obviously undeniable so it's like, man. I can't win. This would have been the chance for them to do a definitive version.

I do think P3P is the best version but I totally get the arguments for FES

for me, I actually prefer the speedy icon interface over the city exploration and the addition of the FeMC puts it over the top (also I've actually never played the Answer but I really only hear bad things).

I feel like the effort to merge these games together would not be THAT much.

Maybe they're planning something more ambitious for it later, but I feel like the resources necessary to do so if they're just keeping it all in the same engine spitting out at 1080 wouldn't be that significant.

Unless they lost some source code or something...

It would be a ton of work though, like redoing all the cutscenes to incorporate FeMC, just to recreate something that's from the PS2 era. Would make more sense for Atlus to remake P3 from scratch, which we could eventually see.

I think I may even just be happy with taking the easy route and just turning on manual control is FES.

If there was an FES port to PC we'd probably see the MOD for it in a week tops.

I'm not familiar enough with the community to know if you can mod an actual PS2 ISO like that.

You can. Although it's a set of Action Replay codes rather than an ISO patch, and is still a bit buggy- IIRC, the game crashes if anyone other than the MC uses certain items, or selects the change persona menu option.

The woman who announced she's doing localization cleanup on P3 already has dozens of people yelling at her to remove all the Ken romance stuff for FEMC, some of them even telling her to just quit if she won't do it.

Also dozen more telling her to do a full rewrite of all of Naoto's character arc in P4.

honestly these fandom discourses have been going on for a decade and the only weird thing at all is that they're getting mad at someone who probably does not actually have the final say on this thing. but that's like every gaming fanbase

fantastic news. i've never had a ps4 and have been waiting ages to play persona 5. really thought it'd have happened sooner.

I loved P5 (did not play Royal), but did not like P4G very much. I thought the copy/paste dungeons were annoying and the story wasn't very interesting.

Will I like P3P?

If you started with P5, your chances of liking the games before it go way down from what I've noticed.

And if you thought P4's dungeons were copy/paste, hoo boy.

The story is subjective, but the dungeons in P3 are significantly less interesting that P4. It's just one dungeon for the entire game that changes colors as you progress.

Yeah Persona 3 is just an inferior version of Persona 4 in all aspects. The story is probably the only main difference.

Yikes that sounds like a skip for P3 for me.

I'd say P3's dungeoning is better than P4's, just because you spend less time in dungeon.

P3's dungeon is like if P5 only had Mementos, but 200+ floors high. This was before the series blew up and could afford bigger budgets.

It's actually wild to see how far Persona has come as a franchise. At release, P3 was a niche game only hardcore JRPG fans have even heard of but now? People are seriously speculating whether Xbox is paying for console exclusivity of a port 3 generations later..

And that's not even mentioning Persona 1.

Persona 1 and 2 were made by a different team than the newer Personas, so I think Atlas kinda sees them as different series in a way. Plus 1 and 2 have a lot of gameplay problems.

The funny thing is that P1 was the best selling Persona game in Japan until P5 finally surpassed it.

Its also literally on the PS1 Classic >_>

P3's biggest dungeoning strength is that there's no need to do it all in one day for social link timings like there is in P4 and P5.

P3's is just "at this date, you will do a boss fight." Since there's only two night time social links, you could either go up to the current maximum floor in one day or spread it out across several visits. Going 5+ times per "dungeon" would be unthinkable in the later games but if you're not tired, who cares in 3?

For Persona games, I have P3FES[PS2], P3P[PSP], P4[PS2] and P5[PS3].

Atlus confirmed these are also coming to PS5 and Steam. PS4 oddly wasnt mentioned, but maybe it gets it too. No mention of Switch though.

I'm 99% certain these get announced for Switch at the next Nintendo Direct (probably later this month).
