It is a fun game.
The story missions are all pretty good. It looks great. It controls good. And when you find a hero you like it's fun to level them up.

Now is it a game I want to fire up and grind in every day like Square Enix wants it to be? No, but I don't play any live service games so I really don't care. I have fun when I play it.

I'm enjoying it for what it is. It definitely would have been a top tier game if it wasn't made as a live service game, but as it is, it's still a pretty fun game. I've been playing through it with a friend. He did hit a game breaking bug though and had to restart his campaign progress. Luckily, it wasn't too far in. But that part did suck.

If they hadn't balanced later missions around human partners I'd enjoy it more.
After a point it gets nearly impossible to do the "timed" or "limited" missions with the AI.

The desire to make it a live service game fundamentally breaks it, imo

every character starts out with an extremely limited move set to the point of being no fun to play, and you level up too slowly because they want you grinding out repetitive missions

and then the campaign sees you unlocked these characters with these limited movesets and by the time you do its just not worth the grind to level them up to be reasonably fun to play

its hurt by its game as a service approach and its level of grinding the same shit. maybe that shit was fixed but i was done after i maxed a single character.

This is another thing.
Spending a couple hours leveling up a character and getting equipment for them just to unlock a new level 1 character with no gear was frustrating.
If you want to use them you now have to go grind both levels and gear to get them usable, and now you've lost the desire to even play.

New characters should have been unlocked at a level appropriate for the point in the story you get them, with basic gear of a rarity/power level slightly lower than your current.
Think if you have 200 power blue gear, a new character should have 150 power green gear.

I got for free thru Gamepass and still hated it. Like you could tell it wanted to be a decent single player game but just never got there. The GOTG game is exactly what The Avengers game should have been.

Marvel could easily just copy the Spiderman game and MCU formula and be raking in money for the next two generations of games.

My biggest complaint is how long it takes to unlock certain things (like moves). Probably the biggest reason most people abandoned it even before finishing the story missions.
