Huh. But even so, the statement still applies here regardless of who said it. They rushed it out and it didn't have voice acting, which stripped the game of any soul. People will forever say it's bad.

Delaying it would've improved reception significantly if it brought today's updates to initial release. Instead, this game will be forgotten over time.

it's the free game for PS+ tomorrow, so it will get a lot of players through that regardless

I wonder how player retention is. I bought the game and played it for a couple days but I doubt even this will get me to try it again.

He had a serious stroke, the only voice acting he's done since then is Over The Garden Wall, and he sounded WAY different in that.

Also, if anyone else here has seen Tangled: The Series, Vivian Vencer is the PERFECT replacement for Jessie Flower. She'll do great with Toph, she played a little girl in that show with pretty much the same attitude XD

Abby Trott having the trifecta of:

• Voicing April in NASB
• Voicing Wonder Woman in MultiVersus
• Singing Lifelight, the theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In a vacuum this wouldn't have moved the needle, people stopped caring.

But coinciding with the PS+ release, right after a beta for its competition ended and can't be played anymore, is incredibley smart.

I was just talking about this with my fighting game obsessed friend - do you guys think Multiversus has a chance to break through to the really main stream?

I feel like Nick absolutely did but flubbed it due to a few things like lack of voice acting and the very fast gameplay being unfriendly to casuals. I think a game still could - but how many crossover platform fighters get this chance before it becomes not that interesting to anybody?

Multiversus being free to play and having characters like Batman/Superman means I think that a lot of people will at least try it out. There's also the duo aspect that lets you carry your friends who aren't very good at fighting games instead of having to compete against them.

But I do think that high level Multiversus feels faster than Smash but slower than NASB so we'll see.

I feel like WB is going to commit way harder to advertising and pushing Multiversus which is gonna make a big difference. That animated trailer was pretty huge.

Alright, I tried it a bit. It's not amazing voice acting but it makes a world of difference in the quality of the presentation.

I don't. In fact, I don't think any fighting game other than Smash itself will be 'mainstream' at all for the next several years, minimum. It's just Smash and only Smash.

I mean heck, even Smash itself has a hard enough time convincing certain sects of its playerbase to play it instead of a version of itself that came out 20 years ago. What serious hope does any new fighter have at attracting new people long-term?

Anyway, regarding Nick... the voices were badly needed and it's really cool to see them adding them in instead of just ignoring it. I don't think it'll make much of a difference on how many people are playing the game a year from now, though.

I didn't realize Billy West voiced both Ren AND Stimpy. That must have taken a lot of effort.
