meanwhile legion uses gold and coinage. perhaps other precious metals. ncr politicians only have the incentive to make the printer machine go brrrr to flood their soldier's salaries so they can be kept in office. there is no long term financial stability and rapid inflation will have the mojave and their other remote outposts rebel. it'll collapse. Caesar was right. he really is only just hastening the inevitable.

Caesar himself knows he is full of BS, and many of his idea are intentionally limiting The Legion. I mean its easy to be critical of something, but in no way is The Legion the perfect response to the NCR.

I mean c'mon a full legion playthrough really does well in showing you what a shitshow the Legion is.

while the new vegas story emphasizes the legion's total war style conquest it also has dialogue from traders telling the player that the legion is safe and profitable to do business with. so long as they don't bring chems or liquor into their territory, approved traders can make more profits with legion gold backed currency; and without ncr's cumbersome bureaucracy, corrupt ncr officials, and high taxes - all three of which are expressly mentioned and displayed in new vegas quests and npcs. goodsprings ncr ending is a clear example of this.

war costs lots of money and legion has the organization and wealth to fund it. caesar talks about their own cities, bolstered by trade and low crime which creates stability with sound gold currency for financial capital, makes possible funding of an extensive logistical system to support legion's vast army. so much so they specialize into infiltration and saboteur corps possible of persuasive diplomacy and/or cloak and dagger tactics to splinter ncr's allies.

the ncr will see a great depression situation if they lose hoover dam or go through some event that generates hyper inflation which is sure to happen with the current ncr admistration.

uhh, america uses fiat currency and it's doing great. so ncr will do great too.

you don't need "backing" when you can just create a debt based economy.

And gold does what exactly? It's just a shiny heavy metal that you can't really use for anything other than being heavy and shiny. In an apocalypse it's worth next to nothing, same as paper currency. Honestly, I could see bullets ending up as a currency in an apocalypse, far more so than something like gold.

The Hub was one of the founding members of the NCR. The Hub backed up their currency with pure water, so the NCR is probably doing the same thing.
