No...I might go to the one in mid-state NY.
But other than that no.

I was sooo hoping they would have come to town...it's year three without them. V_V

All Covid aside....I do feel more comfortable when I can walk home if all shit breaks loose.

...I'm not saying there is not a chance I will go though.

I would be tagging along with friends. But they have kids, so, it can no longer get too crazy.

I do love that you must have me tagged as a Phish Fan though!!
If so, it's same - same! :-)

That was a great era. You can probably find audio from that.

Probably not at this point. I think only two of their songs ever made it to the radio.

You have to see them live to get it imo

their recorded music is pretty meh and a live recording doesnt really do it justice

Looked up some of their songs and none are recognizable. I think I'll just never watch or listen to them now out of tradition

What makes them so good live

dayum, nice job at catching 1.0. do you remember much of it? looks like that date featured Jerry Douglas on dobro, nice!

here's the show in case you want to relive: http://phish.in/1999-07-01

like GE said, their stuff isn't very radio friendly and, tbh, their studio music isn't what draws me to them. it's all about that live show. Phish loves improv and any song can go from a 3-minute piece to a 20+ minute jam if the band feels like it.

here's a show I was at last summer that was reportedly one of the best shows last summer. the first song is a little different than their typical fare, but #2 and #3 give a great representation of the band's sound. if you really wanna get crazy, check out the "Simple" or "Blaze On" from Set 2. that "Simple" put me on another planet.

i like "jamband" music because every show is unique. the setlist is specific to that show and will (almost certainly) never be duplicated. then you have the improv contained within individual songs or jams. i've heard some freakin' SICK jams that do more for me than most written compositions. having every show be unique and different keeps me going back. that's why i've seen Dead and Co like 20+ times, or Billy Strings 17 times, or Phish 14 times.

they also do fun things like jamming one song into another, then going back into the original (A > B > A). or sometimes they do sets where they keep going back to a song and teasing it, or weaving in and out of a song throughout the whole set, as seen in Set 2 here:

http://phish.in/2021-08-08

something else i adore about the jamband scene is the entire crowd / atmosphere at the show. concerts are already usually one big party, but jamband shows seem to take that to another level. the parking lot fills up early and people setup tents where they sell all kinds of stuff. everything from pre-show food and drinks, to custom made t-shirts with band "inside jokes" / references, to glass pipes to .artwork. and yes, lots of drugs.

Oh we have a corel group that knows how to handle things.
In fact that kids, at this point, help it to not get too out of hand.

A chunk of those people are from the Plattsburgh/Burlington era.
~So not a first rodeo kinda thing.

Phish didn't come to town last year...but with a different group we just hung outside for Dead & Co.
There were kids there too and it kinda added to it. Alpha daughter kept trying to steal our adult ice.
After party was a 15 minute walk or so in my friends backyard!
