Garrett Soldano, a Republican Candidate for Michigan Governor trying to take down Democrat Gretchen Whitmer said that rape victims shouldn't get an abortion because it was a GIFT FROM GOD!!

He also claimed that they don't know if that baby inside of them could be the next PRESIDENT!!

He's a father of 2 boys who said on April Moss podcast "We must focus on..defending the DNA when it's created. How about we inspire women in the culture to let them understand and know how heroic they are and how unbelievable they are, that God put them in this moment. They don't know if that baby inside of them could be the next president. maybe the next person who changes humanity, may get us out of this situation in the future"

He cited a "great personal story" from a friend who was adopted on a quest to find his birth family and found out his mother was a gang-rape victim by 5 men at a train station. He said it tore his heart out to hear that as the Christian hopeful said he started to really apreciate and understand what his birth mother went through and the courage she did to deliver him.

He is now facing massive backlash for those comments including activist and actress Patricia Arquette who called his comments disgusting

He also got in hot water 2 years ago with covid misinformation at his chiropractice claiming it's a conspiracy and covid is not as deadly as it seems

He is polling second among Republicans behind James Craig as the state is considered a battleground in Whitmer's re-election chances

Would someone who says this be a dealbreaker for you to NOT vote for them?.

I mean, technically that might be true? Children can grow up to be anything. However, I imagine most rapists don't really rank highly on the gene pool so their contributions aren't necessarily going to be better than the general population's.

"What ifs" are a waste of time since we only perceive 3 dimensions so we will never know how various choices could pan out across multiple time lines.

Um no?? A lot of republicans believe this. I don't agree with them, but it's not nearly enough to cause me to vote for the democrat.

I feel like a kick to the balls is a justifiable reaction to someone saying that to a rape victim.

That, in and of itself, wouldn't make me drop a candidate, but I'll assume if they hold that belief they also hold other beliefs that I find ridiculous too

Looking at the current president I don't think this argument works in his favor.

God put them in this moment.

There's the concept that what was meant for evil, God uses for good. But that's after the fact due to someone else's free will to do evil. He's just taking the free will out of it and putting it all on God.
