What a great well made show imo. I loved the way the mystery unfolded, keeping you wondering what is real and what is not.

Regarding the ending, I wonder why Samuel dragged Melody to the portal which led out from the Otherworld? Regret and repentance? Did he think he needed to leave a sacrifice, Dan, behind in exchange? And talking about Dan. Is he stuck in an Otherworld illusion or did he get out but into the past? We saw portal light from behind a door AND from the basement (the 1994 portal and the present day one I assume).

My girlfriend was super into it and I enjoyed the beginning and middle quite a bit. We were both disappointed in the ending.

Yeah, I liked it quite a bit.

I was reading an interview with the creator. While they haven't had a second season confirmed yet, seems they have a lot planned for it.

They did confirm that Dan really is in 1994, and that the entries and exits are temporal passages or whatever, presumably specific to the time the entry way was opened.

Was it something in particular about the ending?

I expect them to make a second season. Will be disappointed otherwise.

Thanks for the info! Then it is as I guessed :D

That confused me...like, wouldn't it make more sense if he was stuck in the Otherworld like Melody? Idk, the show was interesting but I felt like it was made hastily, lots of plotholes and wasted potential

I assume he took the other portal out, the first door with light behind it. It gotta be the one opened in 1994.

Yeah, I can see that but it still doesn't make sense, though. Wouldn't Melody have had chances to go through a door to the future as well then? How was she reaching out to Dan from there? The whole Otherworld concept seems underdeveloped and kind of a rip off of Stranger Things

I mean, they said the god/demon essentially tricks people into staying in the realm.

The door to our time hadnt been opened yet though. From what we can gather from the portal openings of Iris Voss and Samuel, humans need a portal to be open from our plane to enter/leave the Otherworld. The 1994 portal being open too make me theorize that the opening of a new portal activate the old ones as well for the duration of the opening. Melodys mum says a portal is only open for a short time when she open the one from our time.

Something we dont get explained is if a Baldung Witch need the presence of the Kharon comet when opening a portal. If yes, then I guess that also explain the portal issue.

We know a Baldung need less ingredients for portal opening than an ordinary human though.

* Some of her blood
* The statue of Kaelego
* The spell book
* The tuning forks

An ordinary human in addition need:

* A human sacrifice
* A group of people who do the weird prayer and breathing and act as human batteries as Lucas puts it in 1924.
* The presence of the Kharon (also a Baldung requirement?)

I agree that the Otherworld feel like The Upside Down though.

Out of curiosity, if anyone knows, how well does it adapt the Podcast and how much does it adapt?

I really enjoyed it. The first half, when he's restoring the tapes and the mystery is slowly unraveling, were stronger than the second chunk when we got fully into supernatural stuff but it was enjoyable all the way through.But Dan reminded me so much of Adam Driver, and Melody so much of Katie Holmes. It was super weird.

I agree that the first half was stronger. So very exciting. What is real? What is in Dans head? What the fuck is going on?

I didnt care for it. It had a good premise, but the acting was bad, the ending was lame, and something about the directing/editing made it feel like a student film.

Meh.

i was on board with this show mainly when it was about Dan uncovering the truth with those tapes.

but then the show had to go all Stranger Things on us on the final episode...
