If the only problems we solve are the ones Tomi Lahren can figure out, society is fucking doomed.

Treat it like the flu? So yearly vaccinations? Why do conservatives have such a defeatist mindset?

Tbh, she is completely correct here.

If history has proven anything, it's that any measure we try to set in place will be promptly ignored. You can't stop people from not wearing masks and not social distancing or gathering.

At this point in time, the people who are deadset on not masking, etc. have won. It's time to pack it in, really.

yeah, people should just get used to being sick several times a year while the virus mutates into deadlier strains.

The only thing those people are winning are long-term suffering and death.

I would say her assessment is probably pretty accurate. Vaccine efficacy for COVID is slowly fading. Now people need a booster. It's even being debated if people are even considered "fully vaccinated" unless they have a booster.

But there's a lot of people who are not going to get a booster. And of course people who aren't getting vaccinated to begin with.

So, in the long term, I see it becoming another yearly flu shot. Choose to get it or not.

I saw in passing on fox at the gym today something about boosters every 90 days.

I mean I think our best hope is to completely change our culture when it comes to being sick. If you're sick, you should be able to miss work (consequence free) and people need to stop with the faux tough guy "I'm fine I'm not sick" thing where they spread illnesses around. If you feel sick, stay home. Dont see your friends, don't go out, just rest and recover.

The problem is the capitalists in out society will never allow this paradigm shift.

Thing is people also want to feel better when they're sick because if all you've got is a box of tissues and you're looking up at the ceiling for hours because you can't go out you're going to want to find some way to break that up. Being sick sucks, you should at least try to find ways to make it less of an ordeal.

I personally try to get out and exercise if I'm sick. It's hard but it beats just lying in bed dwelling on how ragged you feel.

Well getting vaccinated certainly helps with shaving down the severity of symptoms.

That is a very good point, particularly for people who now have the ability to work from home and not need to go in the office to accomplish their duties. There has been a big shift in a lot of industries regarding the ability to work from home and it absolutely should be utilized.

But for work that is required for a person to be physically present, I can see it being a bit cumbersome for someone to call off an entire week (or more) because they have some sort of symptoms or "the sniffles".

Not saying that necessarily shouldn't be done in an ideal world. But jobs that require you to physically be there in order to get work done, missing a week or more over minor symptoms is quite a big impact. And then if that person gets physically sick from something else that same year to where they can't do physical work (body aches, fever, chills, etc) -- it just makes everything worse for that person. They're missing too much work, they'll be fired.

Ultimately, for the long term resolution to Covid, shes right.

But it doesnt take into account that if we dont take preventative measures today to slow down the risk of hospitalizations, it can and will overwhelm our medical infrastructure. I feel like this is the single most important part about Covid that gets overlooked in almost all of the talking points the preventative measures arent being done to protect people on an individual level, theyre being done to keep hospitals from being overrun, like what happened to Italy back in March 2020.

When enough people refuse to accept the solution, I guess it's no longer technically a solution. Doesn't matter how brilliant or miraculous the vaccine is... we've reached a critical mass of obstinacy. Sometimes it feels like all you can do is protect your family the best you can, and let nature work things out between the virus and the death cult. I hate how sociopathic that sounds but when every attempt to help them only polarizes them more, I don't know what else we can do.

no, but we can punish them

it doesn't make them follow the measures but it is fun

it can and will overwhelm our medical infrastructure

eventually, we will make the "hard" decision to triage and refuse treatment to unvaccinated people because there's enough vaccinated people who have greater need

and then the problem will really solve itself
