I never really thought about it much before. Sure, I knew some states had an income tax and some didn't, or that some states had varying laws regarding some things. But many (certainly not all) of those laws are often minor and somewhat unnoticeable unless it's something that specifically affects something important to someone.

But during the age of COVID, life is quite different state by state (speaking presently and in the beginning/middle of pandemic). Some states or cities have mask requirements, COVID passports, children staying home from school, masks for children, capacity limits, etc. Other states are operating more as if times were pre-COVID without the masks or passports, not having children eat outside in the cold in order to social distance, etc.

Regardless of how you feel about any of the state's policies, I think it's a good observation worth appreciating. In this day and age, it really matters who you elect into office and life between the states can look quite different in present times.

state governments, not just the damn governors. dont fall into the same damn trap people do on the federal level, assuming that only the president matters.

Nah, Politicians don't care about us. They just say whatever they think will get them elected.

Well, that's true to some degree. But they make promises based off of what they think people want from them. Some keep the promises, some don't.

That's true, too. But it seems during times of COVID the governors are having quite a bit of pull.
