The guy isnt hiding his past. He addresses it and became a better person over the years by learning from his mistakes.
With the leftist mentality of canceling everyone, criminals shouldnt be redeemable either? Fuck rehabilitation? Cuz Liam showed rehabilitation in a sense where he progressed into a better mentality and behavior.

What I saw in opposition to Liam Neeson at the time mostly amounted to "you could have said less to make the same point, while the point was well-intentioned it's pretty uncomfortable listening to a movie star talk about the time he went hunting for a black man with a concealed weapon".

I can't say for sure because I'm a white guy with the perspective of a white guy, so if I'm wrong about this let me know, but I was seeing a lot of stuff being said from a black perspective. Even if they're saying they were wrong and they regret that period of their life, I can imagine it's much harder to stomach as a black person to hear a guy dob himself in about the time he went looking for a black man to beat the shit out of.

It was a pretty weird story to bring up. He was promoting a revenge movie. Not a movie about race relations. I don't think he ever actually called himself a racist when he talked about it either.

Like I know he isn't that same person anymore but it's still pretty fucked up. He was very close to being like Mark Wahlburg.

I think it's the severity of his past racism that makes it hard for some people to overlook. He literally went out, armed, hoping that a black man would attack him so he could kill him in retaliation.

But I agree, he's obviously a changed man, and if we can't forgive people who are truly sorry then what even is the point in trying to convince people they're wrong?

Yea. I'm watching his newest movie right now on hulu. The Marksman. He's a rancher along the Mexican border. Cartel soldiers are hunting a young boy he runs into and he takes on the job of protecting him. Sorta similar to that movie on Netflix with Sandra Bullock defending a boy in a forest fire from criminals
