I started with some flat bread rolls, cutting them in half for the base:



Then I added Vegemite, because we don't have any tomato paste and I had a hankering for it:



Most people use butter or margarine with Vegemite, but I don't like to touch the stuff. So I got a coating onto the bread, with the cheese essentially serving the same role as margarine.

The bread rolls are thin, so I split two cheese slices in half and used them. A full slice each would have been overkill:



And then I added tomato. So far it's a pretty standard Australian sandwich - cheese, Vegemite and tomato.

What makes this a "pizza" of any sort is the next ingredient: salami.



I originally put more cheese on top of the tomato, and then salami on top of that. But I opted to swap the second layer of cheese with the salami, so it'd melt over the top.

Thoughts:

The salami and Vegemite don't go super well together, because they're both strong, salty flavors. This is usually made with ham, and I can definitely see why.

With that being said, it's not bad at all. When it's cooked, the Vegemite loses some of its pungentness. It's a lot more savory and palatable. There's definitely something to be said about the tanginess of Vegemite straight out of the jar, but this is a good flavour too.

Overall? Not bad at all. A bit redundant at worst, but not bad.

Yeah, pizza was definitely overselling it. This is basically just a ham and cheese on toast, or a grilled cheese with some salami and tomato on it.
