I'm like 2/3 of the way through it and there is no discernible plot. Any time they introduce a plot, it's either forgotten or resolved within an episode or two and they forget about it all. Also the writing is somehow even worse now than it was before (like, why do they give a shit about rescuing Hyrum from the bad guys if the whole point is that Hyrum is destroying their town and high school and shit lmao let him rot. Probably the biggest headscratcher i've ever seen in TV history.).

The last season or two were also pretty shit but at least there was some central thing they were writing to that could be resolved somehow.

I checked out of riverdale this season (Season 5). The show isnt even fun in a so bad its good way, its just boring.

Its sad because the first season showed so much promise.

Exactly. They did an episode about Hyrum's origin story and I realized I don't care about any of these characters... there has been zero character development at all over the span of the show.

Combined with the fact that it's just the worst sort of anthology collection of shit happening... I am hoping it's the final season but I can't imagine how they would close it.

Last season would have been the best ending point tbh

Yep, none of the main characters interact unless its to have sex, theres no character development, and the mysteries have the most unsatisfying conclusions it makes the entire lead up feel like a waste of time.

The first season was full of authentic character moments, Veronica and Betty bonding in the first episode, then fighting over Archie, only for Archie to reveal he doesnt feel good enough for Betty was a fun and subversive way to handle the classic love triangle.

i cant even remember the last time Betty and Veronica talked in the show. Likewise for Archie and Jughead.

It's funny you mention sex, since my wife also thought there was a lot of it in the earlier seasons. All the sex has been replaced by musical sequences in Season 5 apparently.

Yeah the first season was solid. Then the stories started becoming more obscure and they lost focus, hard.

Didn't even think about the lack of interaction between characters but that's an interesting point. No one seems to care about each other at all lmao.

Josie and the Pussycats made sense considering... well, it's Josie and the Pussycats.

And I remember each season having one or maybe two actual musical episodes.

I do not remember every single episode having a song and dance routine.

Music has always been a major part of the Archie universe, but the badly auto-tuned, forced musical numbers Riverdale pumps out are eye-roll inducing.

The show almost reminds me of Glee at times. Horrible dialogue and all.

I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth

It is particularly bad when they are performing with microphones but then obviously not using the microphones at all, like when they're on stage lmao. It looks so awkward.

because we like teenage drama serials and kept seeing the ads for Riverdale on the CW App when we were watching Supernatural and it looked like it was ridiculous and over the top so we started it.

It honestly just gives me anxiety mostly, I find the setting and subject matter to be really disturbing.

I ordered it on Glamazon!

Actually there's a lot of product placement this season between mac books and Old Navy... feels really out of place.

Just finished the season finale.

I hate that it all actually got interesting with the witchcraft shit and the corpses in the mines and Hyrum trying to bomb Archie for a millionth time and everything.

Wish they had writing like that for the whole season.
