Can't wait to get this done. Texas has done absolutely nothing to improve the power grid since last winter and I do not want to go through that crap again.

I haven't received an official estimate, but the online estimate was about $45k, I think, for the solar roof and 3 powerwall batteries. I'm probably going to either refinance or get a separate loan to pay for it.

They recommended 2 batteries for ~6 days of power in the online tool, but I want 3 for ~9 days of power in the event of an outage.

Thats not bad. My friend just paid to have a bunch of solar panels put on his roof for about $35k

The solar roof actually replaces the roof itself too, right? Thats probably around $10-15k by itself depending on how big the house is.

Yeah, they would put new tiles on that are actually solar panels themselves.

I think the biggest challenge with that is that the surface area of the roof of the car wouldn't allow for very much power to be put back into the vehicle for how much they would cost. They're still innovating with solar panels, though. I read recently about a new type of solar panel that would generate 1000x more electricity, but it's still in the very early phase of development and testing.

Is it actually going to be done before next winter? I mean there are quite a few months to go but I figure its probably going to take a while to get processed.

I'm not sure. The cold snap this year happened in February, so I'm hoping it'll get done before then, but we'll see.

I feel extra motivated today because of this, lol. I cut my grass, swept my driveway, got all the pictures taken, sent Tesla my latest power bill, and signed the initial agreement to get approval from my HOA.
