WoW essentially did it to the original Vanilla by replacing everything from that era with content from Cataclysm instead. Which is one of the reasons people wanted WoW Classic so badly--that era of content was drastically altered compared to what it used to be.

It's not. It's deleting the campaign and a seldom-used world. The Raid, The Dungeons, The weapons, and the Dreaming City will still be there.

It sucks for new players and its probably the best campaign that they've done since the taken king. Its not as big of a deal as people have made it seem. It paves the way for new content and destiny has been releasing new content every few weeks.

Destiny has its own issues but sunsetting an old campaign isnt it. I dont want to have to play a game thats 200 gigs of content im not playing anymore.

I dont get the point of D2. Unless you have a group of friends to play with All the time. Its a slog doing it solo and the difficulty can be all over the place.

I am biased though. I liked Destiny 1s gameplay better. D2s combat feels off to me

I doubt the campaign will come back but the raid and dungeon will be there. They want to cycle in more content and with new expansions and stuff they want to free up space. There's not a big company like Activision behind them anymore. While Bungie isn't exactly small they aren't exactly big either.

It's a really good game. The gameplay is great but they need to balance their pvp. It has a rich lore but for a long time they were shit at delivering it. Now with the seasonal content its getting a lot better. The big activities like the raids are really fun.

I honestly dont like many MMO's but Destiny is both for casuals and hardcore players. Plus you can just shoot shit all day.

I was very addicted to it for about a year. From Shadowkeep until Beyond Light, put in over 300 hours that year. Crucible is a ton of fun to me, and was the most fun I'd had in an FPS multiplayer since probably Halo 3.

But then they started the bullshit like sunsetting weapons, removing campaigns and content I had paid for, and I just quit almost cold turkey one day.

Some friends convinced me to get it with them at launch. We didn't have enough people for a raid and the endgame content was just normal missions but with time limits so we dropped it pretty quick. Why the hell would they get rid of campaigns, especially ones you had to pay for?

I used to be addicted to it but i quit when they sunsetted the first lot for which i had paid for.

I'm certainly not gonna pay for more content so they can steal that away later as well.

I put tons of hours into D1/D2, but it just got repetitive to me. I do kind of miss it, cause raids were fun but man, Bungie just keeps making dumb decisions. Im still subbed to r/DTG, so Ill see posts every now and then and the silver additions, a lot of things being just reskins, sun setting, this, etc just make me not regret my decision.

I know some things are in a good place in the game and that they have been fixing things tho. But still, fuck the RNG in that game.

Bungie first introduced the Destiny Content Vault system last November when the launch of Beyond Lightushered in the removal of the games main campaign, many of its planets, and lots of other content that had been core to Destiny 2 since the start.

That's fucked up. Bungie can go fuck itself. Microsoft should've bought them and deleted them when they had the chance.

Yep.

They made a new campaign (New Light) when it went free to play and retired the original Red War campaign (the fight against the cabal that came to earth). They're now retiring the first DLC campaign and some of the locations. That DLC soured me on the game for a while so I won't be upset that it's gone.

The current state of PvP is broken, busted, and unplayable (thanks, stasis!) but to complete the seasonal objectives they force you to grind in all of the playlists. The FOMO and the current weekly episodic lore/story growth are what keeps people playing, for better or worse.

Activision wanted them to be making D3 at this point

Bungie paid a ton of money to Activision to break their contract

The process of making a new game does not pay the bills, but unfortunately theyre forced to jettison old content to make way for the new - some of that old content is reviled like Curse of Osiris though

As a long time Destiny player, Im OK with this. Its just the Tangled Shore area and the main story missions. No one plays those missions anymore and if you havent, you had years to do it. Plus, it will be Free for all players for 3 months so you can do it. The Dreaming City is still there which was the real meat of Forsaken. Last Wish Raid is still there too along with the best Strike from the Tangled Shore. There is nothing there anymore that is played outside of Spider.

What? You want it to stay because you like riding around the area? What else is there to do there if Bungie doesnt add content to it? The only reason its relevant now is because of Spider.

I honestly think the people who get mad about this are the ones who dont actually play the game

That's exactly what it is.

Literally, the only thing to still do from the expansion is the raid, and that's not going anywhere. Even if you bought the expansion on release you cant go back and do the campaign anyways.

Im almost certain this will be better because they are probably going to weave it in with the ability to farm the new exotics in the lost sectors too which will actually make it worth farming

Final Fantasy 14 and Warframe seem to have gotten away with it without issue and both have been around longer than the destiny franchise.

To be fair, Destiny had horrendous load times on last Gen because of all the content. That had to be turning away new players. Cutting down on the size of the game greatly helped that

That was the last content I played. I kind of want to go back to Destiny, but I honestly I hate the Vault system, even if it is good for your hard drive.

Someone who buys the game will literally not know about the first several years of content and multiple narratives
