Dead and Company were scheduled to play two shows in FL, but they recently had to cancel both due to the state's refusal to allow private business to operate as they deem necessary. Thanks to strict government regulations, D&C are not allowed to conduct procedures they deem necessary according to their business needs / requirements.

We can all thank the party of small government and favoring personal responsibility over government regulation for this one. So the next time a Republican screams about how the free market is always the answer, point them to FL and ask them why Dead and Company aren't allowed to run their business in the way that best suits them. Ask them why DeSantis feels the need to regulate private businesses and interfere with the market being free.

Most news sites are saying the band put out a press release saying there was logistics and routing issues.

Reddit and Twitter are saying they cancelled because the band wanted it to be a vaccinated only show but they weren't allowed to do that.

What are you implying is the problem?

the band has a vaccine requirement for anyone entering "the pit" (area directly in front of the stage). according to FL law, this would cost the band $5000 per incident. so they just canned the shows.

the problem is that the FL government put regulations in place that prevent D&C from running their business in the way they want to.

I've got tickets to a few shows in January/February and one of the bands (AFI) seems like the kind of band to say fuck Texas for similar bullshit. Wouldn't blame them for that at all but I hope it doesn't come to that.

Okay. This is just the free(ish) market being free.
If a locale is hostile to you doing business there, don't do business there.
