I dont recall hitting it, dropping anything on it, getting bit by anything etc.

but its been looking like THIS for like 3 days. it does appear to be getting slightly better by the day

https://imgur.com/msLwnFb

Sometimes it throbs in pain, other times it hardly hurts. I feel like when I am walking it hurts the least overall. it doesn't feel like my bones or joints are affected. I can't move those toes well, but that seems due to swollen constrictedness and not some sort of "structural" issue.

what the fuck is this?

It started small, between the big toe and the one next to it a week ago. it felt tender and made walking slightly more difficult.

NOW, you see this is the kinda shit i'm dealin' with. it's gonna take me over. or is it?

my big toe nail is red in that one spot I suspect because i dropped a bottle of vodka on it once months ago. I still say that hurt like a bitch but it did save me from cleanin'

Something bit you, on spooky nights you will turn into a hybrid of you and that thing. And when you wake up youll just be naked some of the time. So good luck getting home naked. You can do it but its gonna suck.

I had some sort of bug bite on my foot as a teenager. it balloned into a mini golf ball sized mountain, with a nice and juicy spout.

Ah, I remember the day it broke. I didn't feel it but my sock was bloody as hell.

Same foot, too.

ive seen photos of gout and they appear to have like a ball stickin off they foot.

this looks like it could maybe be a blood clot. its the most, but not totally accurate one i've researched to mine.

assuming this is an accurate picture from a website, it doesn't look like this

https://www.thrombocyte.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/blood-clot-in-foot.png

https://www.thrombocyte.com/signs-of-blood-clot-in-foot/

now my ankles are fine, so this describes ankles as having problems, but I have had other symptoms on here such as the light fever, so I don't know

I did some research into a blood clot in the foot and that seems likely.

I am going to go tomorrow after work to some sort of clinic or something. this does actually seem concerning.

okay i think i may go to the emergency room.

but first this is america somebody translate this for emergency room visits:

  • Deductible - Does not apply
  • Coinsurance - Plan pays 100%
  • Copay - $200
  • Frequencies & Limitations - $200 copay
  • Deductible - waived
  • Your plan pays 100% for emergency use of emergency room copay waived if confined
  • Not covered non-emergency use of emergency room

I feel like this means I can just go with minimal penalty

Sounds like the visit will probably cost you $200 but they can always bill you if you cant pay right this moment, you dont wanna play games with a possible blood clot

no idea for sure, but it seems like your big toe is infected through the nail? if that's an infection you might be in danger of sepsis/blood poisoning and/or damage to your foot tissues (like permanent damage to the joints). I've had relatively minor things like that, but never that bad.

it would be how it entered. you'd need broken skin/hangnail or something of that nature for it to start. but it could definitely be something else, that's just my very limited intuition.

Probably cellulitis. An infection of the skin. Usually treated with antibiotics. That looks kind of severe so they might want to keep you for IV antibiotics. If they try to admit you and you sign out against medical advice, your insurance will not cover the ER visit. See if theyll prescribe your oral antibiotics to take at home (assuming its cellulitis) Good luck. Report back bud.

Okay, so I do feel that since I thought it was a blood clot(so many symptoms lined up) this was worth an ER trip to quell the fear, because those can be deadly.

But while I am glad I do not have anything that serious(and even after 1 anti bio pill it feels better), this played out like how I hoped it didn't:

wait for 4.5 hours, am seen for 15 minutes, prescribed antibiotics....find out it isn't that serious of an issue. I feel like wasted time in a sense, especially because I couldn't go to bed until I got home at 6:30AM. This should only cost $200, which isn't much at all compared to other ER trips I've made in the past, so that's nice. Plus, I don't see how else I'd have gotten a definitive answer and a prescription for what I need to fix it if I just "waited it out"

BUT this has awakened me to taking better care of my health. I have great health insurance now, I should use it. The things I have been neglecting lately such as routine checkups and other things I need to get looked at. "feeling good" which is generally the case is no excuse to not take care of my health.

I don't even fear the doctor, but I struggle to book stuff and plan ahead, but I am going to try to make a concerted effort to take care of my health in ways I have neglected for a while.

Eh, I wouldn't call cellulitis a non-serious issue. Especially not with that kind of swelling. It's generally fairly easy to treat, and minor cases will go away on their own, but leaving a bad enough case untreated can lead to life-threatening infections. It was definitely worth getting checked out.
